is it possible to merge the polygons into less polygons with gmax so it can take less space?

thx but i tried it with backspace and it didnt work then i tried delete and that worked but it also deleted sections of the map. is there another way to merge the polys?

There is also the "optimize" modifier, you can use it but be carefull not to set the thresholds too high. If done right this can save you a lot of time.

Then max thinks that edge is needed. If the polys containing the edge are completely surrounded by other pollys, then- delete the polys go border selection tool select the border where the polys were press cap go poly select mode edit triangulation make sure the faces are looking good and not crossing each other
