So, I have this modified marine I'm exporting in max 8 and everything is going fine until tool asks me for shader types.

### WARNING found #2 degenerate triangles.
choose a type for the shader '<none>':
1. shader_environment
2. shader_model
3. shader_transparent_generic
4. shader_transparent_chicago
5. shader_transparent_chicago_extended
6. shader_transparent_water
7. shader_transparent_glass
8. shader_transparent_meter
9. shader_transparent_plasma
choice (1-9): 2
file_create('tags\<none>.shader_model') error 0x0000007b 'The filename, director
y name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. '
couldn't create tag file 'tags\<none>.shader_model'
failed to create new tag '<none>.shader_model'

failed to import model

I put it in code tags so you can see the
< >
Because that's why it won't work. It's the reason why maps are protected with those symbols. Halo can't save it like that, so I'm wondering how to fix it. I thought maybe it was an untextured face, but there's none. I thought maybe it was something with my material names, but they are all named how I want them to be.

E: Eh, apparently HM doesn't like the greater than and less than signs.

Your new material needs a name.
If you haven't named it in the Material Library, then it is by default named "".
A file cannot have the following characters in their name:
\ / : * ? " |

So this is why it failed to create ".shader_model"[beige]

No, I know why, but the problem is I couldn't find out how to fix it, but I did.

For future reference if anyone wants to know you can open the .jms you export from max in notepad (right click -> open with) and search for "none"
then rename it to something like "shader" without the quotes and it will compile fine after asking for the shader types again.
your beige tags fuxed mah post up >:C
