I am working on a SP map in 3DsMax my buildings are under the material ID of my ground texture... Is there a way I can select a texture alone, and turn that into a whole separate ID, I really don't want to select all the faces again...

select that ID, then invert selection (ctrl+I), click hide. then, in the side and front ports drag-select the ground and hide it all, then you can work with just your buildings

1) You can select by an ID, its under surface properties. Click on select by ID
2) Selecting the ID would be useless because you will be selecting both the buildings and the ground
3) Just select all the faces again. You could also select all of the ID and then deselect the ground if that is easier. Use the selection tool to select more than one poly at a time.
