I'm kinda new to modding so don't call me a noob for this but Tool.exe won't work, I can't double click on it to use it, and Cmd doesn't open it either. Whenever I try to run it it says "Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map' and a whole bunch of stuff. Please tell me what to do.

The toolbeta.map error means nothing. Everyone gets it. You just have to ignore it. The "whole bunch of stuff" would be helpful to tell us. And what are you trying to do right now?

P.S. Cmd isn't supposed to "open" it either. It calls functions that tool can use.

Oh. Well I switched to Tool++ but I still don't get it. Can you tell me how to compile bitmaps with tool++? Oh and by the way, I really appreciate the fact that you replied.

Tool++ doesn't compile bitmaps. You should use the original tool to compile bitmaps.

What is the exact error you get? Are you on Vista as a non-admin? What is the sizes of what your trying to compile?

Uh I'm not exactly sure since now I have tool++ but it did exactly what I first said but I think I just type the command right after that, right? And I am a Windows XP admin (at least I think I'm an admin).

Run cmd.exe. Type:

cd C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition

Then type:

tool bitmaps [DIRECTORY OF BITMAPS]

Note: The bitmaps MUST be in the data folder. So let's say that your bitmaps are in the folder Halo Custom Edition\data\weapons\assault rifle\bitmaps

Then you'd type:

tool bitmaps weapons\assault rifle\bitmaps

And tool will compile every single bitmap in that folder. Be paitient. Tool doesn't operate instantaneously. It'll usually display "Could not read toolbeta" or something like that. That means it's working. Wait for a while, and wait until it goes back to the command line.
