Earth has always been out of the question, bungie can't destroy earth in any way in the story, it would really be a sucking ending since the story is all about protecting earth.

The thing crashed down, not exploded. And Voi and other parts of Africa were glassed. Did Earth explode? No it didn't.
Edited by Gamma927 on Aug 4, 2009 at 03:55 PM

Because you never blew up the ship. The elites glassed a sizeable portion of Africa instead. If you had overloaded the ship's engines, Voi would be a crater instead of glass.

You just proved my point for me.

Crater still doesn't mean that the Earth would blow up... As I've never played Halo 3 before, I'll assume what you said was true. The ship didn't explode. Neither did the Truth and Reconciliation. It merely lost power, and fell towards the ground, but did not explode.

Read the book again. The ship exploded.

Let me re-iterate myself. The ship exploded when it hit the surface, but it was due to the ship falling out of control, and not a wildcat destabilization of the ship's fusion core.

Read this sentence and understand my point. My point is that it exploded when it hit the ground, not because of the core.

oh HELL NO IT WOULD NOT BLOW UP EARTH!*im on gammas side* ITS ENGINES OVERLOADED AND INSTANLYED VAPORISZED ITS NOIT NUCLEAR FUSION NOW THAT WOULD MAKE ONE HELLUVA A EXPLODSHION!!!!

True. The nuclear fusion reactors didnt casue the ship to explode so the ship simply crashing in at a slow speed wouldnt blow it up. If the nuclear fusion reactors exploded then it would probaly destroy Earth

An explosion from a tiny ship isnt going to destroy the earth.

The ship blowing up wouldn't destroy Earth. It might leave a giant crater, but it certainly wouldn't destroy the planet, for the same reason our nuclear warheads don't destroy the planet. It's not a big enough boom.

You're wrong here. If the engines overloaded, and the ship had fusion core engines, it would create a huge explosion. The engines DIDN'T overload.

Halo about as large as Earth. And the Halcyon-class cruiser is one of the UNSC's most heavily armed cruisers.

Cruiser > Destroyer.

The Pillar of Autumn was one of the most powerful ships the UNSC had.

Actually, the Pillar of Autumn is bigger than most UNSC Destroyers. The engines on board were modified fusion engines. However, that does not mean that all UNSC ships carry fusion engines.

PoA is a giant ship, and it blowed up halo by tearing apart the ring into other tiny rings.

Fail. Halcyon is the smallest class of human vessel next to the Frigate.

Since when were Cruisers smaller than Destroyers?

E: Definition of cruisers from the 1950s - 1990s: A 'cruiser' was a warship larger than a destroyer but smaller than a battleship.

^ I thought Halcyons were the smallest Cruiser class ship. And aren't Destroyers just Frigate's with two MACs, heavier armor, and more missle pods?

Just checked up on it. The PoA was 1.17 KM in length. UNSC Destroyers average around 500 meters in length. That's half a KM for those bad in math.

And Carriers are even larger than cruisers.

Hey, why don't you all shut up.
Halo doesnt have to make sense, its a videogame. I mean come on, its a cyborg that fights a bunch of purple space aliens that for no apprant reason want to destroy the humans by activating LOL HUEG rings in space used to contain space zombies.
yhea all that makes perfect sense, but why a specific event didn't happen in conjunction to the others, doesn't.

They wanted to destroy the humans because the High Prophets were jealous of the humans for being the heirs to the Forerunners, so they manipulated the covenant into thinking that all humans were heretics.

And not all of the aliens are purple.

Actually, the evidence for the Forerunner - Flood war comes from the terminals in Halo 3, which provide most of the information on the origins of the Flood, and where the Forerunners went.
