Fix the portal errors first of all, they make the map look horrible.
Second of all, add a barrier so you cant get out of the map easily, in the first one, you would have people getting out of the map and it was really annoying. (This is the most thing I want you to do, your easter eggs will effect the gameplay horribly without this.)
Third, if your going to be using this map, at least give the shaders a bit of an update on the map, becuase most of the completely suck right now anyway.
You should also fix the waterfalls, they have seems the way they roll down and look dumb. Also add static grass, similar to Halo 2's.

And my last question, does Zteam know or care? Even though its a rip, they got basically the entire bsp ingame and would probally like some credit for that.

The brute shot has a powerful melee, and it's primary fire makes it an object of interest, meaning that many people will want to get it. This will also change gameplay a bit, making certain people *cough cough* not want to sit in the warthog's turret, and killing anyone that spawns.

I approve of this sanctuary v2 project, I love sanctuary H2 PB2, but there are some glitches/errors that many people have already pointed out.

1. If you are in a warthog, and going highspeeds and go up the ramp to the base and hit the back wall,the front of the warthog will go into the wall. You may be able to fall out of the map, by doing so.

So you cannot speak of too many h3 remakes, there's merely a handfull of them out there.
Au contraire all the h2 map conversions.

Anyways, the point was needs more custom, well this one happens to be totally not custom, too bad move on to the next topic.

These stupid halo 3 remakes have been going on for 2 years, even before halo 3's release. There stupid and pointless, and know there just getting boring. They were cool back in 2007, but not so much anymore. I want to see some cool custom stuff that people haven't seen before, that are origional. Like CMT's stuff almost, like the turret gun, or there HUD.

Agreed, people need to start trying to remake Halo 2 stuff. lol But yeah, people really need to start making custom things. Not some retarded crappy Halo 3 remakes. Anyways, PLEASE fix the portal errors!!! They get REALLY annoying.

So, let me get this straight. Sanctuary by zteam was a REMAKE of a halo 2 level. Boring enough. You are REMAKING A REMAKE?

And I thought it was boring the first time. Put it into a custom map. Seriously.

Its better then a map thats been played on the xbox for 2 years and been remade onto halo.
It's his project, yes, but making a decent bsp would attract alot more people then a remake of an older one.

1- Brute shot... not the best weapon in the world but yes it would improve gameplay but only if it has a short respawn time(meaning multiple people are able to have it at one time)
2- about the nades... im in full support of lowering the damage effect (because you could kill anyone with one nade on advanced slayer) but if its lowered by too much they will become absolutely useless in combat... more range, more lense flare and youll have yourself a flashbang
3- the hillside was not modeled correctly true but if it were remodeled(ie proper trees and larger walking areas) it would make gameplay more interesting due to more places to fight in. (and as for those of you who are yelling CAMPERS!!! the solution is simple... keep all weapons aside from nearly useless small arms[pistols and extinction smgs] groundside)
4- warthog... if the turret camper is pissing you off simply blow him up with a nade(or add in CMT's unique 'Q' to kick warthog feature)

I was refering to the fact that you could see through the trees and there are bsp holes where bipeds tend to get stuck.

Ok heres how they work.

From the Hek tutorial:
The primary function of these portals are as "visibility portals", portals that the Halo game engine uses to try and cull out objects that cannot be seen to improve performance by not rendering such objects.

The portals in general help break up the level so that it can be handled in parts to help performance in general. Attributes can also be set for portals, such as ambient sounds to play in the portal as well as environmental audio effects. Portals can also be used to define weather volumes and fog volumes.

There are 2 kinds of portals that are defined, "portals" and "exact portals". The following are descriptions for each:

1) Exact Portals: These are portals defined by surfaces or planes with the +exactportal material applied to them. Exact portals are created such that the faces (edges and vertices) match the surrounding geometry (edges and vertices). These faces in effect create a "seal". The volume that is between these surfaces or planes is an exact portal. The direction of the normals of the faces helps determine how the portal is defined.

2) Portals: These are portals defined by surfaces or planes with the +portal material applied to them. These portals are created by faces or planes that are used to divide the game environment. These planes must create a seal with the level, but do not have to match vertices and the associated edges with the surrounding geometry. These planes are much more loosely defined and placed in the level and are used to break or divide the level up into sections. The direction of the normals for the faces helps determine how the portal is defined.

A volume defined as an Exact portal CAN have standard Portal areas defined within it and vice versa as long as the above rules outlined in their definitions are satisfied. However, an open ended or non-enclosed Portal cannot intersect an Exact portal, a "vis error" or rendering anomaly will occur. In other words, be careful to not let a Portal plane improperly divide or bisect an Exact portal volume.

Portals can be used to help portal horizontally (looking left and right in the XY plane) AND vertically (looking up and over objects or geometry that vary in the Z-Axis)

My interpretation:

Portals are way the game breaks down the map. They can be exact portals which attach to doors, and can make different sounds in certain areas. They also stop the random missing faces you see like on Z sanctuary. Just portals are big planes that stretch across certain areas and help break down the map even more, but do not define certain areas and sounds as well and exact portals do. Basically, portals optimize the map for better performance.
If you played my map "TM_Fracture", these had no portals and made the map play poorly on not as well playable computers. (dont ask me about fracture_v2 im not answering questions here)

BP (Beach Party) rigged me some Halo 2 elite first person arms, but he said he forgot the smoothing and the welding and the blow torching stuff... Point is it looks blocky, and the animations need some editing.
