Hey, im newly registered but ive been hangin around here for a while, and im working on a map but i constantly come across obstacles, most i found a way around, but theres some i cant...

My first question is: is there a way to make an MP map go over the 128mb limit
map size has been an annoying problem for me because i like to have lots of vehicles and AI[

my next question is; in one of my maps im making, some of the AI dont do anything, even if you walk up to them and shoot them, would this because it says something like "AI database is full - 768 entries"?

when i put weapons on the ground in sapien, they spawn in the game but disappear after 30seconds, how do i make them stay?

also, does anyone know where i can find te E3PO Sapien? I cant find it anywhere

1st question: there may be ways to do so, but if there are even ANY, then i do not know of them. My suggestion is that you remove vehicle and AI tags that would not be needed in your map. That itself can decrease the size of your map significantly.

2nd question: there is no such thing as an SP map that can allow more than the player him/herself to join. Simple 2 reasons: AI don't sync over the internet for Halo, so the marine you see here may be in another place for another person playing the same map with you. Also, Halo CE doesn't have the co-op mode like you see in the xbox.
BTW, even if you try to create an MP map with AI, it still wouldn't work for co-op due to the same reason as above.

Tool pro will give you infinite tagspace, BUT the map will exception a lot. The only thing I use it for is for UI maps.

ill see if tool pro will work for me, where can i get it from?
if it doesnt ill just have to switch to an SP map, but im not good with them...
i got rid of all weapons and vehicles not being used but i was still a bit over.

You can ignore the "AI database" error. Just means you have too many AI. For the background music, there's a few settings you need to put into the sound_looping tag. I just don't remember what they are.

thanks, i got tool pro and ill test it later, with the AI thing, the problem was that some of them dont do anything, you can walk up to them and shoot them and they wont do anything, is that what it means by having too many AIs?

[edit] also, can anyone give me a link to a tutorial for making random model permuations for bipeds, or make them for me if i give you the gbxmodels or jms files? It would be really useful for me to have bipeds with random model perms

For the AI problem, are you the host or the client?

And for random model permutations, I'm not sure about this, but I heard that you put all the models in the same folder when you compile.

with the AI, im the host, and noone is connected to the server.

For the model perms, i might have to get the JMS files off the owner, i think if you convert a gbxmoel back to a JMS you cave to re-rig and re-apply bitmaps n stuff...

toolpro makes you go over the limit, im quite used to it, most of my maps are 500 mb, makes some people choke, bite me, i have that much epicness =O

you probably didnt make the right Team Index, if they're in the same team that is set by default, they won't do a thing, which is the case here probably
the background music repeats because backgroundmusic needs a loop, however your loop isn't made properly if it bugs you alot and is too noticable


new: if i want a flying vehicle to be able to be able to move sideways like the banshee can, would i have to change something in the physics or the tag or does it need animations for sidestepping?
look at how the ghost does it, it allows for strafing, dont know what i did from the top of my head, but it was something obvious in the vehicle tag, i think it was a flag to be checked to allow for sidestepping

i managed to fix the sound by changing the class from music to projectile impact.
and the AIs are all set to the right teams, but sometimes their encounter is braindead and sometimes their not

I tried setting "AI driver can sidestep" but it still wouldnt move sideways, ill see if theres any othe flags to do with sidestepping

You can't make banshees strafe. Same with pelicans.

I suppose fake barrel rolls don't count? =P
Dont need a pelican to do that with everyone in the bay =O

lol yea, a rolling pelican with 10 people in the back at a few thousand feet isnt too safe, especially seeing as theres no seatbelts :) In halo2 they can strafe, too bad i cant make them in CE...

how about adding explosion tags like the sword that lunges to the sides?

duck for strafing right, Q for strafing left

just using damage effects to push your around lol

thats actually a good idea although the pelican is basically immovable coz its weight is 10000, and i need to keep the crouch button coz it makes the pelican go down on the spot which is quite useful, and i need the flashlight for scripts

Yea i could but i still need the flashlight button for scripts, and crouch and jump to make it go up and down on the spot. the only one i dont need is zoom but i would need 2 buttons - one for left and one for right. Also, is there any sort of script command to check the zoom state? Like say sleep until the zoom is on an then do something, it would be really usefull for me, i had a great script idea for the pelican (mainly for SP maps) but i need the flashlight for my pickup scripts
