Scripts. Assuming this is SP, create a trigger volume, name it 'tvol'. This is where your music will start. Create a .sound_looping tag.

(script startup musix
(sleep_until (volume_test_objects tvol (players))15)
(sound_looping_start "[DIRECTORY OF SOUND LOOPING TAG]" none 1)
)

If this is MP, then stuff gets a little more compilcated, I'll get to that if reuqested.

Background sound maybe? I've never really played with that, so I can't help you there.

Thats what I would think. You can create a portal and have the sound played in that portal. Because each portal has its own background sound?
