Ok i have a bitmap that i made for a floor and when i look at it at one angle, it is fine and comes out nicely when illuminated by flashlight. When i look at it a different way, it turns pitch black. What is going on here.

Did you get tool to turn it into a normal map, by setting its format to 32-bit color, then changing its usage to height map, then ticking disable heightmap compression. Under post prossessing, change bump height to something in betwwen 0 and 1 (0 is no height and 1 is full height) Higher numbers tend to not look to good. Also near the very bottom untick compressed.

After these steps, recompile the bump through tool and it will convert it to a normal map.

I am not sure why it wont open sapien. Can you open sapien properly normally?

Sorry I don't whats wrong with sapien, but that should be how you would set up the bumpmap.

EDIT: Wait actually what does it say when you try to open sapien? Anything in debug.txt?

Check your apps. Anything that could interfere with Sapien.

If it's an SP map, you're out of luck - Only way I know is to reinstall HEK.

Try recompiling your bitmap, I get that bitmap error a lot of times with my custom AR reticle.

i compile my bumpmaps as 32 bit, and height 1, nothing else was needed to get it look great, try just doing that and nothing else

if it's the bitmap, try putting it in a diffuse slot just to check if it works

EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION isn't an error with bitmaps, it's with the map itself - or usually Sapien.

Try to fix that first and then give us the (new) error message.

Now i can get it to bump both ways, but when i look one way it bumps the unbumped area and when i look the other way it bumps the bumped area.
