How didn't it help? What exactly do you need help with? Putting it in a map? Extract tags to tags\characters and then go into guerilla and switch them from the mp_biped to the link ones. Then compile the map and you will be playing as link.

How do you switch mp_biped to the link ones? Sorry for the questions.

Open globals.globals located in tags\globals and scroll down until you reach Multiplayer Information. Change the unit to the link biped.

I have been off here for awhile. How do you compile the biped into the map.

Once you've changed your globals.globals, open up cmd.exe located in your Halo Custom Edition folder. Type:

cd C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition

The command line should change. Then type:

tool build-cache-file [DIRECTORY OF SCENARIO]\[SCENARIO NAME]

So if my scenario was called "bloodgulch_link", and it was located inside tags\levels\test\bloodgulch, I would type:

tool build-cache-file levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch_link

I didn't actually already have CMD.exe I had to download it off the internet. So I listend to the commands that you posted. When I first bring up CMD.exe it shows C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition you said to type in this cd C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition and something will change but it said the system cannot find the path specified. What is a scerio is that the biped? Well I then typed tool build-cache-file my biped is located in Halo Custom Editon/ tags/characters/twilight_link/twilight_link.biped. then it says something like cant read toolbeta.map and some others stuff. I don't get it. I am sorry if not getting this but I really need help. thanks.

No no no. I mean, what's your Halo Custom Edition directory?

Example:
C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition

F:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition

C:/Documents/Halo Custom Edition

Copy cmd.exe into that directory. Then start it up. What is the command line? Command line = thing next to the blinking square that you use to type.

Ok good. Now, what map do you want to add Link into? Let's say Blood Gulch, because everyone seems to love that map. So, if you have the scenario file, you're ready for the next step. If you don't have it, you have to extract it using HEK+.

Download HEK+ here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2289
Run it, hit "CTRL + O" to open the "open map" window, open bloodgulch.map. A bunch of folders will appear. Drag them into the extraction cue on the right. Find the "save extracted tags list" checkbox, and uncheck that. It's right above the start button. Then, go to the yellow gear, and make sure "Overwrite existing tags" is unchecked. Click the huge "Use registry" button, and click Ok. Then, click Start. Wait for the output on the bottom to finish, and you should have your scenario file inside the folder tags\levels\test\bloodgulch.

First, save the scenario as something else. If you overwrote your old bloodgulch.map, you can't host games with other people who don't have the same version as you do. So, right click bloodgulch.scenario, copy it, and paste it in the same place. Rename bloodgulch - Copy.scenario to something else. For this example, rename it to linkgulch. Then, open the command prompt from inside your Halo Custom Edition folder. The command line should be:
C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition>

Type:

tool build-cache-file levels\test\bloodgulch\linkgulch

Wait for it. It'll display "Couldn't read map './toolbeta.map'" Wait for it. Wait for it to go to back to the command line. It'll either display "successfully compiled cache file", or "FAILED TO BUILD CACHE FILE" in capital letters.

What's the entire error? Go to your Halo Custom Edition folder, find debug.txt, copy the very last paragraph, which should have "FAILED TO LAOD SCENARIO" in it, and paste it here.

Check the folder Halo Custom Edition/tags/levels/test/bloodgulch. Is there a file called linkgulch.scenario? If you didn't create it in the last step, copy bloodgulch.scenario, paste it, and rename bloodgulch - Copy.scenario to linkgulch.scenario.

Is the file "linkgulch.scenario" inside the folder C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition/tags/levels/test/bloodgulch? If yes, then it's probably a tag problem. Open up sapien.exe from inside your Halo Custom Edition folder. Browse to "linkgulch.scenario", and try to open it. A window will appear, and your mouse will disappear. If you want to continue doing whatever you were doing, alt + tab out. Sapien will stop responding, but that's normal. Leave it alone, and it'll do one of two things. Either it'll open up full screen, or it'll close itself down. Post your results here.
