Okay I made a simple model of the H2 Gravity_Throne and it drives fine and everything the only problem it the shield that protects the driver.....

If you look @ the pic I have it set up were you press the "c" button and your shield appers around the chair.... only problem is once the shield forms it psh's the chair out of it???

I tried setting the shield up another way when u get in the chair but it kept making the shield over and over???

list of problems:

1:Not sure the best way to set up the shield?
2:camera is in the center of screen and chair is not lined up withe the camera??
3: When shield forms it push's out the chair from the middle of it?

If I removed the collision then the shield wouldn't stop anything.... also I like to make my own stuff and Im goin to release this atm or such might not as alot of people keep there hard work :)

no Im not using shield grenades.... Is just a modeled circle with a shader on it.... Shield Grenade????

lol - yeah, i figured it was something seperate like a projectile from an effect, since the chair is pushed out and away. So it's not...
The c-field generator method wouldn't work, it's shield appears to be permutated only by the engine, not a function. You'd have to blast it down to get in.
I think it'd need to be animated, collision wise. The shader can be faded by a function, but the collision would have to be plates, and they'd be tucked away for a deactivated shield.

Physics push vehicles out of collision geometry, use a effect to spawn a biped if you really want a shield like I think you do.

Not out of it's own collision geometry though
I can't make out what's under the shield, so I'm assuming it's a/the Prophet's chair/throne, which floats around and appearantly has a shield. If it were stationary, I could see how one would consider using seperate objects. But it's mobile, so an effect-spawned shield of any type would be separate and left behind. no good

You must mean damage radius, from explosions. I think your right.
In H2 and/or H3, can a prophet be taken out with a rocket launcher?

hey bobyson in H2 I just remebered this: No the prophet cant be taken out by rockets or explosions though it seems it hurts him cuz explosions penatrate his shield but bungie has it set were he only dies by boarding...

Hey I finished everything today... Everything works just gonna test a few times amd make any changes then release here on halomaps :) Thanks for the help everyone and the bobbysoon guy :)

Aside from the shield being constant, (which I understand is nearly a whole nother project to make it off when the vehicle is unoccupied or sufficient damage is taken, )nice work.
Which kind of physics are you using? If it were "human-plane", it could also be controlled with jump and crouch for up and down, although idk how to increase the z movement rate.
Did you export a custom physics for it from max, setting up custom masspoints? I could help with that if you need it.

Well as I said in my video... I have been using gmax.... Im getting 3ds max on my new computer when I get it also I've been swithching the physics to fit it best..... u say set it up were crouch activates the shield I had it that way.... but ai's (prophet) the shield want be on there fore he get's killed easily...

Hey guys wanna no something strange for some reason now I cant get the weapon on the chair to work???? And the recticle that's suppose to show up when you get in doesn't show up either??? No gun no recticle cant figure it out???

Open the weapon tag, find the weapon label, go to the animation tag, add the label in the weapons slot.

Well It's almost done except this last problem....


When I fire the laser beam It only shoots straight? It doesn't aim were the rectile is???

It want turn,left,right,up,or down... just shoots straight????

What? No. Explosions do not effect people outside of the BSP or around corners.

Yep. Weapons that have damage radius can damage through vehicles or scenery, so you wouldn't be able to make a shield that protects you from explosions.

except maybe with the indirect damage material in collision. I'm not sure. I haven't experimented with that. I just assume direct means projectile impact.
It would in effect be a constantly active shield, needing carefull balancing of it's damage resistance percentage and it's damage infliction ability.

Yeah bungie didn't go through all that trouble with H2 gravity_throne the prophet could still be damaged by explosions like rockets and grenades.... but they have it set were the actor_variant or biped in the chair can only die by bording....
