ive just started my own server and i cant connect to it so i read the troubleshoot thing on halo maps, any way can someone tell me what this is

However, if you insist on running both. You will need to start the dedicated server on a different port. The Halo CE Game Client uses ports 2302 for Server port, and port 2303 for Client port. If you try to run the dedicated server with default settings AND the Client game (with default settings) then the Server ports will conflict. I recommend telling the dedicated server to use port 2312, but any will do. You tell the dedicated server which port to use on the command line with the directive -port 2312.

what are ports and how do i change them
with what program

and how do i use rcon and change the password of it

Open Halo, Go Settings-> Network Settings. That's where you change the ports.

sv_rcon_password to set.

rcon_password to use.

What do you mean Settings folder? Open Halo CE. In the Main Menu, press Settings. Then press Network Setup.

Through haloceded.exe

im willing to bet at least 50% of the rcon passwords are "penus" or some variant of that spelling, hitting every semi-legible spelling of the word, yet never actually spelling it correctly.

No. Has nothing to do with ping.
No ping because you are close to the server i.e: at it.
Though i usually get 37..
