How do I put a Jpeg or any other kind of picture file in to a map. I don't know if anyone has already asked this or not, if so can you either send me the link to that page or just say the same thing. Thanks

1) Convert to a .tif
2) Run through tool
3) Add bitmap to object
4) Put object into scenario
5) Compile scenario

You can't put a .jpg into a map. You have to convert it to a .TIF format, run it through Tool, and put that bitmap onto an object, be it a scenery tag, a level, whatever... Then put that object in your scenario, and compile that into your map.

If you really want details, and you don't know if someone asked or not, use the "Search" button up there between "Home" and "Profile"... And check the HEK Tutorial guide.

Understandable. I'll try to explain it as best I can then.

Alright... You can use basic little "Microsoft Paint". Open your image in that, then click File > Save As... There's a drop-down menu where you can choose what to save it as: .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png, and .TIF. Select that, and navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\data\levels\(yourmapname)\bitmaps ##you'll have to create this folder## and save it there.

Once it's saved, run "cmd.exe" from your Halo CE root directory, and type in tool bitmaps levels\(yourmapname)\bitmaps. This will compress the .TIF file, into a .bitmap in your Tags folder.

Now create a shader: open Guerilla, File > New [shader_environment]. Change the material type to whatever you want, i.e., stone, dirt, metal, etc. I quite like the sound of melee'ing Concrete with the pistol, so I suggest that. Scroll down to diffuse properties, and click the ... next to base map, and find your bitmap. Once you've selected that, just click File > Save As, and navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\tags\levels\(yourmapname)\shaders ##again, create this## and save it as the same name as the bitmap.

Now, you have to actually make the map yourself in order to get your picture to work right in it, or make a scenery file. You'll need 3DS Max or GMax to do that, but you can make just a small flat rectangle somewhere in your map, up against a wall, and texture all the back faces of it with a simple metal or wood or something, and texture the front of it with your .TIF file. When you eventually compile your map into a .jms, and go through the process of making your map, you already have the shader and bitmap made for that picture, if you followed my steps... The only other way to get it in your map, is to make a scenery file; someone else will have to explain how to do that, because I avoid scenery tags at all costs.

Break up the word. "your" "map" "name". You have to create the folders, as I said...

I explained it as best I could; your best bet is again, to look for tutorials. Try the Search feature at the Halo CE Maps section, or look through TheGhost's tutorial section...

Ok. Let's take this as slow as we can. Can you make a map?

that's where it usually starts yes

make a cube or something nicer, and after unwrapping it, slapping the pic on, and exporting it to a jms, compile it with tool, make some shaders and compile the bitmap, make a scenery tag and place it in your map, you're done.

can't elaborate more about it, it's just as simple as that

and at the end... you get this:

now that wasn't that hard, was it?

ofcourse, you need to know the basics of map making to do this
