I know I saw it somewhere a long time ago, but I lost its location. It was a multi-part tutorial with huge video files. It was for making modular levels, and it looked really good. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?

Was it 3 parts, very high quality, roughly about 3-4 hours in length? Indoor themed map tutorial? Maybe, in one of the parts, he was looking at random pictures for "concept art"?

If so, I know the video you're talking about. I have it saved, but I'm not sure where I got it from. Unfortunately, it's so massive in size that it would take an epic long time to transfer over any IM service, and too big for e-mail... I may be able to upload it to Megaupload or something though.

If not? I'unno what tutorial you're talking about. :3 The one I mentioned taught me everything I needed to know about modeling.

had a search around, could it be;
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=4043 (part 1)
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=4044 (part 2)
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=4045 (part 3) hope this helped.

Yes, those are the ones I was talking about. I recognized the author, sadly. It takes a while to watch those, and they're only the model (untextured), but it's a very impressive tutorial that really goes deep into the various things you can do with Editable Poly.

Thanks. I was really hoping I wouldn't have to upload to Megaupload 'cause it'd take ages, even with my internet speed.

I'm not that great of a modeler myself. I'm a novice, and before I watched that, I couldn't do anything but heightmap levels. Now, I've made a few indoor maps. I remade Hang 'em High from scratch, though it's not entirely accurate; it's still in beta, and I'm occasionally editing it more and more until it'll be final, then I'll edit it some more and make a variant of it (as well as give it to someone who was trying to edit it themselves, but used the imported .obj [epic errors])...

That tutorial is very in-depth, for any tutorials. I do plan on releasing tutorials a little bit more simple than that, but still one pretty detailed and showing all the various tools you can use... The difference with my tutorial will be that I'll include Guerilla, Sapien, and Tool in my tutorial, so it won't just be a modeling tutorial. :3

ooh.. cool.. you should edit the hamg'emhigh geo so that its a bit better, like along a wall add a extra tunnel or something similar, just to make it different... :P

I already have my ideas, as does the person who requested my assistance. I have to say his ideas are pretty ingenious to begin with, but some of the things I had implemented into my custom version were pretty unique and really made the gameplay of H'e'H a lot better imho. I intend on recreating a few other levels and changing them up a bit, but my current original projects are definitely top priority.

Wouldn't bother me any. Right now though, I'm more prioritized around my original map. I already ran one beta test, and while a few things worked out pretty well, some of the textures are miserably unmatched, and there's a bit of UVW'ing problems... Making maps is such a tedious task. ;;

Quite literally, it's just that: an original map. It's an XY-Symmetrical map, for any details.

To explain that part, since I'm not sure if they're legit terms or not...

X-Symmetry, in my eyes, is a mirrored image. Two halves perfectly mirroring one another, i.e., The Narrows, Gephyrophobia, The Pit, Midship (I think), etcetera.

Whereas, XY-Symmetry, is a bit farther. It's mirrored not only by halves, but by quarters. Not only will it mirror itself on one axis, but on both axes; Derelict and Wizard/Warlock were examples of XY-Symmetrical maps.

I'd rather not publicize my map though, so... I'll send the good details in PM. :3
