its a VERY BASIC TUTORIAL... I reccommend not using it... Its a heightmap tutorial.

dude, the point of the heightmap method is for beginners to be able to get their map done easier i used it when i first started, and now? i still use it when i am doing an outdoor map because it is simple

I think its easier to do heightmaps for outdoors to start a map if there is alot of land its sort of pointless and hard to model the whole ground your self.

I never used them, and I never will. I prefer plane-modeling, just because to /me/, it's more natural and much easier once you know what you're doing. And it does turn out a lot better in the long run as well.
