Does anyone know where this
http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2659
saves the tags it creates?

I can't find them in c:/program files....halo ce, the tags folder, the sound tags folder, or the directory where the original sounds came from.

Thank you.

As alwais, please reply to these!!

hey, you're right!

"Easy to use", "complete instructions" -sure. /sarcasm

It's also impossible to do permutations with it. (or sound_looping tags). And I don't know how to get 44kHz sample rate. And nothing but ogg vorbis seems to work.

Anyone know how to get 44 kHz sample rate the regular way? What are the specefications for saving the file? (Format and attributes in sound recorder).

And what's "gain"? (like "(sound_class_set_gain ...)")

if you have kornmanv102 guerilla you can change the sample rate in guerilla i think. I hav no idea what gain is though. Oh, and btw I replied to your other topics.

In "help">"about kornman" it says I have version 1.2. Is that the same as 102? Where can i get 102? Thanks!
And thanks for replying!

EDIT: i figured out how to make 44 kHz sounds...

Making 44kHz Sounds Tutorial. For those interested.

First, open the sound file in sound recorder.
(start>all programs>accessories> entertainment>sound recorder).
I found that it helps if you set this as one of the programs to open sounds with. Right click on a .wav sound file> open with> choose program> brows> go to c:\windows\system32\sndrec32.

Now save the sound in your data directory in an appropriate place, like the sounds folder or your map's folder. Save the sound in it's own folder, the folder name should be the name you want the sound tag to be. All sound files in that folder will be made into permutations in the sound tag. Save the file with sound recorder with these settings...

"File name": whatever you want the name of this permutation to be. As far as I can tell, permutations are compiled in alphabetical order.

Save as type: Sounds(*.wav)

Format: PCM 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo. (Helps to save this format so you can use it later.)

(BTW, for 22 kHz sounds, use PCM, 22.050 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo)

Save

To compile in tool, do

"tool sounds <location of the folder you saved the sound in> ogg 1"

(if you did 22 kHz, you can put a "4100" instead of "1" at the end. This would be specifying bit rate, not quality ("1" is specifying quality). I'm acting as if I know what I'm talking about. I don't know if 4100 is any better then 1, and sometimes it doesn't work. A friend told me to put 4100 at the end when he first told me how to compile sounds, and it worked, but sometimes it doesn't.)

ANYWAY, tool should say "compressing...done".

Open the sound tag in guerrilla and test it. Sometimes guerrilla will play sounds at half speed or 2x speed, especially if you've been playing sounds with different sample rates. Sapien is smart and won't do this, but sometimes sapien will still not play it correctly. Halo will though. Make sure to set the class and min/ max distances. Most of the top settings are self explanatory. To know what the other ones do, you have to know more about sound, and I don't, sorry. Ask Marty. lol

note
From TEDDY:
Quote: to split it into perms you cut the sound up in a sound editing program then save them in the director (c:programfiles\microsoft games\halo ce\data\sound\mysound\) and use the tool comand: sounds c:programfiles\microsoft games\halo ce\data\sound\mysound ogg 1
