well, this is my first post ever. i happen to be making a halo ce map, and i used yayaps tutorial for map making using gmax. i have a problem importing a "BRUTE GHOST" (taken streight off of extinction using hek+. i found all the needed files depended on by the brute ghost and imported them into sapien. strangely, when i try to put it on the map, it closes out of sapien! so i check my debug, heres what it says from sapien start to finish that time.:

i dont know whats causing this. and defenately dont know how to fix it. all i wanted to do is add the brute ghost. i think it has something to do with the "tag_dump" file in the haloce directory, but dont know how to fix it. >_<
i couldnt find a command in tool that would help me "import vehicle tags" either.

I think it means that something is corrupted. Try re-extracting the ghost, overwriting your current files. The brute ghost works for me, so it must be that you extracted wrong.

well... to the "extracting wrong" part, i have never successfully gotten anything ripped off of any map, and put onto another map. what makes this time differrent is i included all of the parts that the ghost depended on, example: the tags that are needed for the brute ghost include one outside the ghost folder. -> tags\scarab\bolt\bolt.damage_effect. am i doing something wrong? how do you rip tags? i even looked up tutorials for how to rip tags and put them in new maps by way of sapien, but couldnt find much. earlier i also wanted to rip the halo 2 sniper from extinction as well. i wish i knew more about this... i would really like to have the brute ghost in my new map, and same with the halo 2 sniper rifle. im doing something wrong... is there any tutorials avalible?

Well, to extract a tag, it would be easy to just extract everything. So select all the folders, drag them into the extraction cue, and uncheck "Save extracted tag list". Then click Start, and watch HEK+ go!

my best advice is to reinstall hek for uncorrupt orginal tags, then rip all the normal maps (no overwrite) till they work (mostly on the first try). after you do that, rip all the other tags from any map you want

note: hek+ dosent succesfully extracts AI grenades throwing values and biped animations

i figured out the problem, with maniacs help (thank you very much maniac, glad to have you on my xfire :) )... however. it turns out the brute ghost wont even extract correctly it has something to do with a corrupt shader. what's confusing is that it works in extinction, why wont it work in other maps? thats okay though. i at least learned how to rip tags. also i got the halo 2 sniper rifle working. (nsniper) and also the "big" sniper (one shot). i was very pleased that i figured it out. i also noticed my map after being "built" was messed up anyway.

what my newest problem is, is: doing yayap the grunts tutorial for basic map building. i cant get the bitmaps to work and also am having problems with getting the map to be able to be played in halo ce. all i want to do is make a map with a couple of tiled bitmaps i made with a couple of cool weapons, vehicles etc.

is there something in his tutorial that i missed?

as i said, hek+ never extracts everything correctly. use the newest extractor that steelixb (and not cmt as everyone says, masterz1337 isnt steelixb) released, as this one extracts better.

maniac provided me with hek+ that seems to work MUCH better for other things. unfortunatly that didnt work for the brute ghost. are we talking about the same version?

edit: btw wtf do you do if your map looks like this using yayaps tutorial? (im at the radiosity part)
