Nope, I think you want to play custom AVI or WMV files? Thats not posdsible to play ingame. It IS possible to create cutscenes with some scripted sequences, but thats it.

Actually I remember seeing a video of someone who made a animated tif. That would be the closest you would get.

An animated device that moves the shaders faces quickly so it looks like its a video but its just a bunch of bitmaps moving

How do they do the ending credits video and the opening Bungie and Microsoft video's then?
Or, better yet, how do they do the ui videos it cuts to when there's no input for a while. It didn't load up the bsps and stuff to make all those in real time. they have to be videos, so it has to have a script to play them. Edited by Vick Jr on Feb 9, 2009 at 05:01 PM

Actually the game can play videos, not .avi or .wmv though. HALO uses .bik files and there are 4 .bik files included I think (bungie.bik, gearbox.bik, mgs.bik and ending.bik). The first three run at startup and ending.bik is that video of guilty spark that plays after the end credits. I think the first three must be coded into the game program itself as they run before the ui.map has opened, ending.bik though MAY be called by a script, although I haven't seen that script if it is even a script. Long story short, unless ending.bik is called by a script and sombody finds that script those are the only 4 videos HALO will play. As sombody else said though you may be able to get a similar effect with animated bitmaps, but I don't know if they are possible (that's on my list of questions in my questions topic: http://forum.halomaps.org/index.cfm%3Fpage=topic&topicID=23764.) EDIT: Some pepole posted while I was writing the above, so I have another message related to those posts to add: Quote: --- Original message by: Vick Jr Or, better yet, how do they do the ui videos it cuts to when there's no input for a while. Edited by Vick Jr on Feb 9, 2009 at 05:01 PM I don't think HALO 1 has that, HALO 2 and HALO 3 do, but HALO 1 I think not. Edited by Rhydgaled Publications on Feb 9, 2009 at 05:18 PM

Edited by Vick Jr on Feb 9, 2009 at 05:01 PM What are you talking about? If your talking about the videos in the beginning where it says Bungie studios and Microsoft Studios those are videos. When I say videos I mean Video files. They aren't in a map. Just like the idol at the menu. It's a video not a texture.
