are you dragging one vert or are you dragging the z axis arrow?

That did not answer my q. You selected all verts, then tryed to drag where? one vert? the blue axis move tool arrow?
If you select all verts then just change the value in the z coordinates box, does that do what you want?

By using the blue arrow?

Well thats very odd, all i can say is that if you want to move all verts then you might as well just unselect the vert selection box and move the entire object, but you knew that and it dont really answer the question. But it does get the thread back up top, srry man.

but unselecting the vert and face and edge and pollygon tools then using the move tool on the whole object.

if you dont have any of the selection tools highlighted(in use) then the move tool will act on the entire object.

when i say the selection tools i mean vert mode and face mode etc...

hmm have you tried saving and then reopening and then importing it? (what i mean in the sentence is the file you save and import if that doesn't work then ask autodesk.
