I thought halo 1 vehicle AI pilots weren't able to use secondary triggers, yet when you fight banshees they can shoot the plasma AND fuel rods. How are they able to fire both? Or is that just with weapons? Edited by Officer egg on Dec 12, 2008 at 05:55 PM

They're able to fire both because the banshee's weapon has a reference to an actor_variant tag that overrides the actor_variant of whatever AI is in a gunner-enabled seat of the vehicle. In this case, the driver also has gunning ability, so that actor_variant does apply. It's the reason why elites and grunts don't seem to act much differently when they're in a covie turret, among other things.
If you want to change that, just open the banshee's weapon tag and scroll down until you find "actor firing parameters" which has a reference to that actor_variant. It has a secondary fire mode to allow for the use of the fuel rod in this case.
