Killing Grounds is really a coursework project for graphics. It's going to be a map varient of river, and will use all the best tags on the site.my friend and I haven't done much prepartion at the moment for it, (haven't even started decompling the map, because we are complete novices) as my computer is at PC world, so we can only do half as much work. This will be our first map, so any comments are welcome.

these are a few of the tags in no particular order

If you going to mod a map and call it your own for a school project at least pick a better one.

The picture caught my eye. But, if you are doing a coursework project for graphics, wouldn't copying another existing map and adding on LAV tags, Pyro GX tags, ODST Biped tags, and Beam structures everywhere be a sort of plaugerism, to add on to what wasn't yours?

The point is that he's doing it for SCHOOL without anything belonging to him. I think that's some form of plagiarism.

well i will do my own map, later but i just thought we would do this because the deadline isn't very far away (before christmas) and gmax is a little difficult to get togrips with. Also its not plagreism if we give credit, and its not like im writing an essay. what do you think of the cover?

Yes, it's not plagerism if you give credit. But, atleast in my school, they are VERY picky about how you give credit. As far as I know, there is no MLA style guidline for citing videogame modders who's work you used, then again, there's a format to cite EVERYTHING in. lol

I also don't really know what you do in graphics, or how making a map relates to it. Please explain both. I might want to take graphics next year if this is actually an acceptable project.

Also, they'll let you name it "Killing Grounds Vengance"? wow

As for making it before christmass, you're right. it would probably be impossibly to make any kind of non-box map before christmass if you don't already know what you're dong. But you should try to make some part of it. It's good that you will have learned how to put tags in a map, but they might want more. I know my teachers wouldn't care if I put tags in a map. Not unless they knew what it involved. Everyone assumes it's easy.

How are they going to know you stole a Halo CE map? What are they going to do? Search google for a Halo Custom Edition website that hosts maps and search every last map to find out if your map was created by someone else? Pick a better map and say you made it because let's be honest, if you knew you could cheat on a homework assignment and get an A without being caught most of you would do it. I know I would have.

You really have nothing to worry about. You're not plagiarizing anything since all HEK content is owned and copyrighted by Microsoft.

But then you're taking Microsoft's stuff and using it for your school projects.

True... Besides if you do get all custom tags from other players, just give them credite. EX:

MA5K Assault Rifle Tag. By "authors name here". Date made. And the link here.

That would most definatly work

Microsoft doesn't care if you use their products as long as your not getting money for using them. Hints why people can make Machinima without using the Usage rights and get away with it.

Do you get paid with money when you turn in school projects?

This isn't an argument. It's a discussion. As long as you don't receive any revenue Microsoft won't care.

Well i'm not sure if you can take it. To chose it (this is enfland btw) you have to be 13 or in year 9 or 16 and in year 11, doing it for a level. In graphics it's mostly technical drawing and stuff, so going into architecture, or graphic design (e.g. logo making) is the next step

=====================

I'dalso like to thank everyone for there comments but at the moment I can only talk the talk, not walk the walk, as my computer is PC world
