im trying to delete the turret in 3dmax 8 (trail) to put my other turrets instead. i tried many ways, but failed everytime. could anyone help me? also help me to attach a turret if you can.

i first tried to move it off the warthog, but it was still linked. i tried then to convert to edit mesh but everytime i deleted a face which isnt in the gruop then pressed undo, it unlinked it. when i tried to move the turret off the warthog AND converting to edit mesh, it attached it back. also, im trying to delink the gun i i dont understand how to use it so it dosent work.

Don't use groups, using seperate meshes is enough, and it doesn't need skin modifiers, fyi, since it's all mechanical. The chaingun's chain would be an exception, it does need a skin modifier to sway and bounce realistically. Also fyi, the mesh's Element mode selects faces attached to the face you click. It'll make removing the old turret easier, especially if you first weld verts at .01 threshold

destroyer: detach buttom didnt work.
bobby: i imported it as seprate meshes, succesfully deleted the turret, but i couldnt get the sentinel turret to attach to the warthog. still need help.
