Can I add single player maps?

Indeed you can!

Also, one of the contestants requested a slight extension of the contest due to difficulties they were experiencing with their map, so I will extend the deadline by a week. Use the extra time wisely, my friends!

Also, welcome to the judging table, vmt.

If you need a fourth judge I can do it. Although I think I'm going to submit a map I'm working on for this.

Hmm... OK, Nexus, I'll let you judge and submit, but note that you are disqualified from scoring your own map. E: Scratch that, Nexus asked to be removed from the contest.

Also, I'm only allowing 7 judges (I like the number 7), so there are 3 more judging spots available. Get 'em while they're hot!

Yea, he made the Flood containment Single Player map. I might work with him to complete my map, but I'm not sure yet. I guess I'll spend the whole week polishing it.

I think it would be cool if we could have a non-moder or mappers point of view. Dennis?

List of Maps I've made:

1. Damnation AI
2. Rat Race AI
3. Dangerforest 1 and 2
4. AI Battle
5. Ancient Forest
6. Elites Vs Marines
7. Hang The AI High
8. Flood Containment SP
9. Map Room

That's nine maps.

If you still need a judge I'd being willing to do it. I already have several hundred maps within my map folder. I have no particular loyalties to any of the map makers in the community. I also believe that a map doesn't need to look good to be fun, but I do like to wander through maps to see everything they have on them. Also, unlike some people I don't believe that bloodgluch mods and AI maps are horrible, but simply there are just many of them not made well.

No, working 40+ hours a week, and trying to get through college takes up the majority of my time. However, I was planning on attempting to try and teach myself how make at least basic maps during this summer. I understand the basic principles, make or get a bsp, insert tags, script anything you want, and then compile scenario into a .map file, but I don't know any of the specifics.

Can I be a judge? Or is it reserved for people who've actually done maps?

Do you have some sort of qualification which demonstrates that you have understanding of game balance and map making?

Do you even need to have one?

Personally, I think non-mappers are the best for judges. Mappers tend to vote for maps their own style. (e.g I would vote for an SP map, NOT a map with excellent textures if both were the same quality).

So, basically I would have to go out, make a box map, and then re-aply. Personally I think the system of 'having to have experience' is flawed. However, it is your competiton, and you may do as you wish.

experienced does not mean you have to have mad a map so the rules have no flaw it means you know what is good for the comunity and no quite a bit through learning stuff here.

Personally, I think we should invite those brand new people (n00bs) to test, because then they haven't played a single brand new map before.
