What do I have to do?

I give the half sphere a material ID of 1, and go into the material editor.

I click standard and multi-sub object, and choose my texture, name it and such, and it doesn't show up in 3ds. I don't know what to do.

Do I have to texture it a different way?

Make sure it's applied and that the 'show material in viewport' button is selected.
