This is an odd development. Today, I am unable to join games on Halo and Halo: CE. I get to the part where it says "negotiating connection to server" but it never gets past that. After a little waiting, I get an error message. WTH? Is there an update needed or something? I've never had this problem before.

Me 2, I don't think there is an update because if you tried to join a PC server it would make your download the patch.
Edit: Try playing with the CD. Worked for me once, but Im lagged bad (stupid broadband) so I won't try again soon Edited by megahalofan12 on Sep 19, 2008 at 06:06 PM

check your router, go to www.portforward.com, find your router model then the game you want to play and follow what it tells you. should fix your problem.

yeah, i couldn't even play without the disk in. not that it bothers me. its the only disk i really ever need to use, and if i need another, im obviously not playing halo then and there.
i think that v1.08 brought all kind of unfortunate little bugs...

Really don't think that is it. It think it is the new Update brought bugs into the game. I could play nonstop before, then just now it's like... *^&$*@^

Quote: --- Original message by: RedDeath - CB Clan I have some very long and bad news. I wanted to let you guys know something about Halo Combat Evolved, this information is very vital to the game and to how you connect to games online.Recently Bungie (which is the company that allow you to host game servers)now only lets you join games that have ping.
You might ask what the heck is ping? Well ping is a standard protocol(rule) that sends a message to another computer and waits for acknowledgment to check if another computer on a network is reachable. If you still dont understand what ping is let me break it down a little. Basically ping is used to establish a connection or check for a connection to a game or a computer. It usually generates the ping connection in a number. So if you dont get a ping(a connection) then you wont be able to connect to that game.Ok now you might ask. How do I know if it has ping? Well here is how you know. First you would go to multiplayer then under "Join Game" you would select "Internet." Ok now this is where it gets tricky. Notice at the top where it says "Server Name" then next to that it says "Map" then next to that it says "Game" then next to that it says "Players" ok now right next to "Players" it says "PING" In order to find out who has ping click where it says ping and it should list some games that have ping. NOTE: When you selct ping it should give you some numbers. If it doesnt have a ping number, then you wont be able to connect to that game.
I think the reason why this is all happening is because of the new MICROSOFT WINDOWS VISTA Operating System. Microsoft has totally quit making Windows XP which is the operating system most of you guys have on your computer. Well halo was originally programmed for Windows Xp. Well to make a long story short I was glancing at halo in bestbuy the other day and I noticed that halo is now only available for Windows Vista not Windows Xp anymore. So I think Windows...
