Msg. 1 of 4
yes i checked modderCentral. Nothing
Here's the error...
"EXCEPTION halt in .\intermediate_geometry.c #444: triangle->material_index>=0 &&triangle->material_index<old_material_count"
I got this when i tried to open the c10_outer bsp and isolate a group of fungal stuff to make it into scenery. I welded everything, closed all the holes, and linked the group of stuff to the frame. I put it in data\scenery\c10_fungal_group\models and physics. And ran Tool model scenery\c10_fungal_group.
It obviously has something to do with the materials. When i imported the .obj file my bsp tag convertor created, i went to the material editoor, and clicked "pick material from object" and clicked on the fungal stuff. Then that was in the material editor, and I applied it to all the fungal stuff (didn't change them because it was already applied), and exported.

You'd think that they would have made the trees, vines and funguses scenery in that level but they didn't. They are part of the bsp. Now I'm getting that same error when i try to make a test scenery which is a simple box with test\tutorial\plate floor applied. wtf? what is this error?!
Maybe it needs to be a multi sub material. Great how do i do that? It's hard enough to get the materials in the material editor from the imported bsp. Edited by Vick Jr on Aug 24, 2008 at 06:33 PM EDIT: Yes, i think it does need to be a multi sub object material. This makes it even harder. Now I have another problem. Apparently the shader symbols don't register when making scenery? Like if I put in the % to make it 2 sides it thinks its a new shader and wants to create it? WTF?? Hey Vick Jr,
I'm having similar problems with the shader symbols in scenery - I found out by accident and several hours of cursing that for some unexplainable reason tool (i use tool++ as well) asks for a shader that you may well have created already - you know it's there but tool says it's not!
Well I tried everything and eventually just renamed the shader to include the shader symbols (i know it's not supposed to be that way everyone) but, i got round tool keep asking for the shader, but the desired effect was not achieved (i was trying to make a vertical rippling water suface similar to the event horizon in stargate), but at least I established that tool's model command has a problem with shaders.
Vick Jr - if you have xfire, add blackcrypt as a friend - perhaps we could work through some of our ideas together and help each other get to our desired end results? In fact anyone who has questions or answers can join in. I'll check in on this post tomorrow!
Oh, by the way, the error message above seems to indicate that materials have been deleted, have you deleted some materials? I had something similar to this before. Edited by Black Crypt on Sep 18, 2008 at 08:37 PM

I'm having this error as well I think it has something to do with the materials. I thought when you exported the .jms file that the materials would be included....
yeah turns out you need to make sure materials are in it b4 u try it again. Edited by Dwood on Sep 28, 2008 at 02:46 PM
