So..... here i am again on same old "Gathering Exeption error" topic on the same old Halo Maps Forum having the same old issue. This is because everybody gives up on the topic of the "Gathering Exeption error" and nobody ever really goes back to try to fix the error that so many people are having and nobody bothers to help those people out (like me). and NO I AM NOT HAVING THE POOR ME'S ETHER. Anyways where i am trying to get to is that i am getting really angry because i keep having the same "Gathering Exeption error" and nobody bothers to go and help me out, because they go help other people out (which is not a bad thing, but it can be at times) and so here i am AGAIN try to get some help here, that nobody bothers to give. Please give me a hand in my time of need.
Thanks

No, he means either through the console or through the multiplayer menu.
If you do it through the multiplayer menu, you're wrong. Enable the console or devmode, and use the map_name command to open it. Edited by drillinstructor on Aug 10, 2008 at 11:43 PM

Thanks for the Help but..... WTF yes you can open the CMT campain map files from orange ui i have done it before (but now it does not work), it even says here at Halomaps that you can, but i can't remember where to go right now, BUT YOU CAN DO IT SO DON'T SAY YOU CAN'T. anyways i will try that a get back to you on that after i try it.
thanks for the help.
hey grunt killer 29 i tryed using that, its a really fun program i like it too! it is very useful when getting in a tight spot in Halo, would you not agree? Plus that could be the prob for me too but.. even when i was not using that it still gave me that same prob.
Also What in the World are the "command_map names"?? Edited by videoman on Aug 12, 2008 at 12:39 PM

Ok, the map_name command opens multiplayer maps without gametypes, or starts a campaign level (or continues one from last checkpoint.
To use it, it follows this simple format
map_name (maps name here)
just the name is required, no .map or _ inplace of the dot.
For CMT's SPV1 first level, which is called a10.map, you just type this:
map_name a10
thats it.
Is that better to explain?

hey there thanks for the help, i had a questions for you:
what do you mean by "map_name a10"?? When i downloaded the campain maps, all the .map file names had just one part (when i extracted the using Winrar) for example: a10.map, a30.map, a50.map and so on.

I'm pretty sure you don't need alldev to run map_name commands...but ah well.
Just in console, type map_name (place here the name of the map you want to run)
so, say you wanted to run a10, which is Pillar Of Autumn.
type
map_name a10
Then, go out of console, and the cutscene should start.
mm?

thanks for all the help you have given me! i had just a few more things to ask (for now). here they are: what framework should you have for playing 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5?? because i did not have any framework so that could have been the prob. Also when you are using Alldev do you type in the map_name commands at the main menu or while you are in a game??
thanks again

Hey lordofblake i accept your sorry, and yes you were trying to state the facts. but if you just read my last post you would also think that nothing can get completely hopeless (at time yes it can) but i try to never give up on hope that some can give me a hand and help me fix the prob that i am currently having. sorry for the long speech, plus lordofblake i am sorry for the yelling at you throw text (ha ha ha) and being a bit hard on you in the post that i type (mostly) about you. anyways not sure if anyone read my last post (if you did not, please read it) i have found the solution and fixed the prob. and if anyone is having the same prob just let me know (i will try to help you out personally) Thanks every one for all the great help you have given me through out this topic, and i hope you all will continue supporting Halomaps.org (this is coming from a user, not a admin) and the Halomaps.org forums.
Thanks again
Videoman
PS: grunt killer 29 i suggest you edit your post NOW, because: #1: if the file you are asking for is not here at Halomaps.org don't ask for it, your not allowed to ask for it here at Halomaps.org (at least i think it is). #2: you are also not allowed to ask for links ether for it is not allowed here at Halomaps.org (again i am not totally sure, but please be careful for what you ask for and say, because it could get you in a jam you might be hard to get out of).
