Now, I have added kestrels in the place of the jets near where the mythos used to be. I like how they look, and i am about to test them.

Tell me if they work well. The ones I have bite and the finals in Halomaps are screwy.

This "Extiction v2" uses the same bsp, correct?

The original sucked. The new one is the same map, with a few changes. And so it will suck. I'm not being rude, just stating my opinion.

Also, the original and the new one lack something that a few crazy people like me enjoy. We call it GAMEPLAY

Keep your opinion as an opinion and not as an attempt as a declarative fact. I think this will be interesting in my opinion, especially since I have always been interested in big-styled maps. But that's just me, I know many others, like you, differ.

It's a rebuild, not a mod. It's gonna have a fresh, brand-spankin new bsp.

You know, why do you people that dislike the map keep on posting here? He won't stop modifying the map. If you don't like it, then don't post. Why? ok... so i just found this topic and am in full support of the remake...
1- i saw the video(in the first couple of pages) and saw both the standard human tank and the better covie tank... would you possibly replace your current human tank with the heavy tank(as seen in both airstrike maps[provided you remove a few things]) and replace the wraith with the stealth one from downflow (that one also has some cool features that can be removed)
2- yay the mythos and scarab are gone ^_^(i think... i might have missed the vehicle listing somewhere)
3- i also noticed you edited the jets... (fine with me... they had issues but...) if you wanted a decent air war between human aircraft(jets) and the covie aircraft(shees) please note that itll be kinda one sided but i have a suggestion... fix the jets...[speed, ammo, collision geometry, etc] and replace the shees with those from Infinite storm[or something along those lines... one of them has 'stunt shees' with speed boost barrel rolls, etc capabilities...would love to see those
4- not to be a jerk but the hogs with the machine gun/missile turrets need a lot of help:
the rockets are too slow and rarely hit a target, much less get anywhere close to one before detonating[can this be fixed]
the machinegun itself seems to have some sort of error where ones you fire the rockets the machine gun no longer deals damage to a target
also the collision geometry needs some work[nice speed and all, but flips too easily, and tends to fall through things: the POA, walls, the ground, the bridge, etc]
5- i myslef am a big fan of using cheap glitches to get kills but several have me pissed off and perhaps you can fix them:
i can put a pelican anywhere you can place a biped (collision geometry needs adjustment, or barriers need to be installed)
if you drive a hog all the way to the right of the map[right being if you were coming out of the hanger] near the trench and drove it up the path leading up the mountain, eventually you will fall off the bsp and get stuck[the hog often cant touch the "ground" and you cant comitt suicide cause nades disappear once deploid]... this may seem not to be a problem because you get stuck but if you stay within the bsp area you can park a hog just above the covie side of the map and camp to your hearts content because ammunition can pass into the bsp but not out of it...[now you see the problem]
6- i noticed that you placed the vehicle tele near the bridge that goes acrossed the trench... i have to admitt it is now much more convienient for both teams but it is also convienient for anyone with a heavily armed aircraft or an armor piercing sniper... can you please place a shade turret or some anti air device there and also give it at least some protection from snipers?
... anyways... lost of things to do... message me if you need help and please tell me if these problems have been adressed...^_^

The kestrels sink into the ground...but I haz an idea for another vehicle.

Yes, I am going to edit the BSP. The size issue is one i probably cannot fix, besides, if it gets balanced out, what is wrong with it?

I am going to try to put a new bridge.

I am going to try to put a cliff behind human base.

I am going to give the phantom a secondary trigger.

I am going to try to implement bobbysoons awesome grav lift into the map :P.

I am going to delete some unnessesary sections. (Extra parts of the halcyon underground, shorten the trench.)

Bobby, thanks for the new scarab! It works very well, except for how it does not spawn crouched and jumps when you get into it, but that is insignificant. Also, the animation that opens the scarab's mouth when it charges does not take place. (I personally couldnt care less about it, but something tells me some people won't like it >.<)

Anywho, I feel the mod is going great. Also, I figured out how to deal with the hugeness of the map, sort of.

1) I have increased player speed.

2) I have added some heavy artillery around the far areas of the map, to give footsoldiers some firepower.

3) I will add wasps around the map, strategically placed so that you can get to one if stuck in the open.

Also, I implemented the scarab back into the map, more balanced than ever!





And check out the new string!



And to scorpio and the gameplay comment, why in the world do you think I am doing this mod? (Aside from all the fun I have :P)

Also, I never thanked jargon for how he had helped me with the phantom (Even though i got a little lost) So thanks jargon!

You mean for the pelican/phantom right?

Oh yeah, and I plan on making a ladder on the side of the scarab, so you can easily get back up.

Yes for the phantom, not pelican. Make that like the one off coldsnap. Where you press "Q" to attach/detach vehicles.

Well, I heard it is possible to make a ladder on one.

Couldn't you just open the gbxmodel in gmax and design a ladder, attach it to the model and do whatever you do to make a ladder, then export it as a gbxmodel...i dunno lol.

But I think the phantom pickup would make a great addition to gameplay.

actually... it is quite possible and there is a slightly easier way... you perminantly attach a biped(collision geometry and all) to what vehicle you want climbable and then select the "can walk on any surface" flag in gurilla... this makes it so you can climb anywhere on the vehicle and you can walk around on it while its in motion

Could you possibly pm me a very detailed tutorial on what to do? That would be great :P.

Extinction is built for 8 - 16 players. In order to play properly, i need many testers.

Excellent. Just what I need you to look for.

You see, the size isn't the problem. It is mobility. I fixed mobility. Hopefully...

I placed six wasps in strategic positions around the map. They are there to allow you a mode of offense, defense, escape, and most important mobility.

So if you increase general mobility, you fix complaints about size. So, problem solved

(That is, if my logic is correct...)

Extinction was released unprotected for people to learn from, mod, improve upon, etc. (read it's readme). So should this be released rippable. that was kinda over the top doan... just a bit... but jazz you need to chill out too. like, go eat a block of dry ice.
to be perfectly honest, IF IT WORKED WELL, i would love, and i mean like i would actually play ce again, if we could effectively do vehicle battles with dracos that let people walk around on them. i would probably pass out. i think i literally have a fetish for stuff like that. if that could be done right, and well, i would drop everything, and help you guys make this. the problem is that it wont work well.

Sucking on ice is alot more cooling, but then it gets too cold -_- Though Id like to see more custom things in this mod rather than rips from other maps and from other games.

A new bsp is in the works, and ... I haven't played hugeass in a while. I'll have to play it again to get your point, but I'm assuming you're implying that extinction is somewhat of a copy of hugeass? Well, extinction's author did allow for improvements on any and/or all of it. That includes making it unique and interesting :)
