Depends on the map size totally. If is a smaller map only a couple weapons would be good because of the dead people's weapons all over. Larger map still spread it thin. and keep them close to heavy traffic areas. just my opinion.

Add a heavy weapon in the center of the map, like a rocket or sword. Add a SMG somewhere in the base, along with a Battle Rifle. Then somewhere on the edge of the map, preferably low and near the middle, add a sniper rifle.

If you could post a top down view of your map, we could help point out where to put power weapons based on the map.
But there a few things to remember about placing weapons/vehicles;
Make sure that both teams have a fair chance at getting the power weapons and power-ups.
A good base should have enough weapons to arm all of the players on the team, that's not saying give the base 8 BR spawns, but make sure there's enough weapons to make all the players happy from the get go. If you are constantly having to leave the base for a 'good' weapon after a respawn, it's not going to be fun if your team gets held up within that base.
Maps with a heavy concentration on vehicles should have plenty of counters for those vehicles, whether it be turrets, grenades, rockets, or more vehicles. And make sure those vehicles won't own a team on the basis that the other team controls the vehicle counters.

I agree with some of that yak but i disagree about the weapons part. I do not agree that you should put alot of "good" weapons in or near your base. infact there should be no more than 2 snipers/1 maybe 2 rocket launchers and one sword. but put a few ammo spawns for those 2 weapons on each side. those weapons should be fought for. If you want a rockets round just use rockets as your starting weapon.
Just look at a map with a similar size and take notes. that's my help. Edited by johnnyblaz20 on Jun 8, 2008 at 11:32 PM

Edited by johnnyblaz20 on Jun 8, 2008 at 11:32 PM I didn't mean rockets and snipers when I said 'good' weapons, I ment BR's and Carbines (weapons that can be used all around). But I really like the idea of having power-weapon ammo in a base, it gives players reason to go back to their base.

Look at bloodgulch. The power weapon is in the middle along with the powerups.
