Looks pretty sweet .

If you were going to make 1 of these base type things either side of your map, I think it would be cool if you made 1 base half submerged (like an underwater type base, with a ramp going topside, and a launch tube for pelicans and stuff coming out of a waterfall).... Just a idea

or I could chage the size of the top part of the base to make it into a launch pad for a pelicain

Smoothing and textures sucks, but it's looking OK.

If your map is going to be big ( hugeass, extinction, coldsnap, etc size) then sure put a pelican in it ( like the one in coldsnap that can pick up vehicles), but if it is going to be a medium size map (which to me it looks like) I wouldnt because it would not be very good game play. However if it is a medium size map then keep it like it is, and use the top part for launching banshees, jets,or whatever you are having . Either way I have a feeling it is going to pretty cool.

ok I was just making this base for the hell of it but that you have mentioned the pelicans that can pickup vehicles I might make a entire map out of it.

I wrote this app http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=2889 awhile ago to make it easy for map makers to do that and I have never put it into a map myself so might give it a go.

I have a idea for a map it would have two open plains about the size of bloodgaulch for each base to be in

these plains would be connected by two steep canyons "infinty like". Also there could be a tunnel system that goes up the middle but it would be setup in such a way the it would be hard to get there ie very narrow bridges so if you made a mistake in a hog and fell of you died.

there would also be a moutain system that the pelicans could be used to drop off team mates to attack the oppisite base in a hog and the retive them at another place on the map

and before anyone askes no there would not be longswords or the methos in the map as these just make it to easy to get kills and just kills game play.

This map would only be anygood for team games ie ctf, king or race

ok back on topic thanks for the feedback

The ramp that is over the part that comes out of the ground was put there for a banshee.

when you render, remove all the textures (temporarily, just apply a clay colored material to everything and undo after render), add a skylight, and turn on light tracer in the advanced lighting tab of the render options window. that will make your render look much better.
