Ok, yesterday I announced that I am making a new map that I haven't come up with a name for yet. Today I am going to give you a brief glimpse of the layout and modeling of the map. Obviously, it is in it's very early stages. This will probably look nothing like the first released version. I quickly put some random textures together so it wouldn't be just one color. The halls are long and boxy now, but I will find some way to make them more interesting. The modeling is looking pretty good with the brand new bases I redid from an earlier map I made completly connected to the terrain, unlike the Dam in "Dam Defense". It is obviously forerunner themed and will probably be on a Halo.

Ok, enough of the wall of text and now for the quick screenshots, as you can see, I am using Blender Foundation instead of the traditional 3dsMax/Gmax to model this.

Please tell me if you can't view any of the five pictures.

(BTW, I'll be posting any updates on this map here instead of making a new topic)

Those textures are just cliff holders right?

I see a potentially good cliff modeler. Keep it up. :)

Potentially good yes, but right now his cliffs are extremely uniform in shape and very boring. Also, I would suggest adding "hanging" cliffs (IIRC that is the acceptable term). It's basically cliffs that are not sealed above the bounding ones. From the players stand point it only adds to the depth of the level, and most of the cut offs will not be able to be seen. It will only help you get the feeling of actually being in a plausible environment. If you do do that, then make sure you give them a no collision material, otherwise tool will have a fit.

Try making ur own terrain texture. Its actualy very easy.

Yes, I know. This is a very, VERY early stage of the map and I just put together a few quick random textures.

I just posted screenshots to show the modeling of the map.

That is an exceptionally boring map.

I like the ideas behind it, but the modelling is just too sub par to be excused.

Refine your modelling skills more, and then come up with a better gameplay wise layout then try re using this idea.

It actually looks kind of fun. Just put in some trees, rocks, or hills for cover, and a few snipers in it.
And mabey make the ground a little nicer. Geo, I'm still trying your tutorial, and is there anyway to undo things if I mess up? Or do I have to restart?

This a pretty good start but you need a better ground texture.
