is it possible to have a vacuum? say like you play as a marine you start sufficating.

That wouldn't seem right. You don't suffocate instantly unless you go out into space without any helmet or anything...

I think, considering the game, it would be better with this "invisible fire". Just remove the flag that makes the person's screen flash red, and that would be perfect.

In a vacuum, there is no pressure, or very little, therefore, you wouldn't suffocate, you would just vaporize almost instantaneously. Or at least turn into a liquid. Not a very fun way to die.

You wouldn't vaporize nor be liquified. To be specific, if you went out into space without a pressurized suit, like astronauts/cosmonauts wear, you would be 'suffocated' instantly. Not vaporized, not liquified, you would just be forced to succumb to the pressure. Your lungs would instantly collapse from lack of oxygen and air pressure. Your body would freeze over, but otherwise, would have no damage... It'd just be a frozen corpsicle, like Zombies in Alaska.

When you say vacuum do you mean sucked out of the ship?

I'm pretty sure he just means if you leave the boundaries of the ship... I could be wrong, however, but that's just my assumption.

If he means being sucked out of the ship then die I think thats possible.

you speak the truth, so if you leave the ship you begin to suffacate.i was planning to have lik breakable widnwos, wo one misfired shot and everything nearby would be sucked out into space.

Vapor pressure curves. When a substance is a at a constant temperature, and pressure decreases enough, it will change state. It would be hard to tell if the falling temperature would predominate over the pressure, and I don't have a curve diagram for your body, so I wouldn't know. Nor would I like to find out by experience. Potentially, you would vaporize or liquify. Also, the pressure difference between your insides and the external pressure (close to none) would cause you to expand, along with your lungs, which wouldn't collapse, but expand and pop.

make the damage effect skip shields ffs. and dont make it happen to the chief. he has that tank thing with oxygen in it

I personally think that this name is a no-go. V2 just sounds lame. It would have been somewhat better if you said 2.0 but even then.

what, skipping shields? its just a flag. this is done using scripted damage and trigger volumes. not to hard, theres a tutorial on teleporting vehicles with trigger volumes on this site, so tweak that for a damage effect

when i find out how, ill mod the map (if i can O_O) and make it so you play as a marine and like donut said ill make it skip shields.

this idea was random i decided i would try and make the other day, but i thought ill post it on here fr advice to see if its possible or not.

could you make that a bit simpler? i only started stuff like this (NOT THE VACUUM THING THATS WHY ITS POSTED HERE O_O) because my mind has waves of ideas. all of them (except maybe this one) are fails.
