I downloaded my extinction map file into my maps folder, but when i start up the game and select it, halo quits and it says its doing something...dont remember what....ill post anyways what do i do?
Is it because my computer is vista?

yes it says gathering exception data.
It does it when i try to load extinction.
But i dont think those things will help, its just the map file.
How can i make it so i can play on it?

Or you are playing it on a gametype not supported in the map...

I don't think that's possible, at least, a gathering exception data shouldn't happen. If the map has no CTF flag points or spawn points for that gametype (or something like that) you just won't spawn, you'll look endlessly into the sky from the same point, or at a wall.

It's not. It's whether the flags for the gametype are there or not. Like if the hill flags for king of the hill weren't added, the game will exception.

or the ball in odd ball, points in race, flags in CTF (as said before) , etc

maybe your computer just doesn't like you. i know mine doesn't like me.
