Hey guys, I've got a question.

I have 4 computers, 1 laptop, 1 360 and one regular xBox home. Two of these computers and the laptop are in use( Mine, Sister's and Mom's) While the 360 is also used and the old Xbox is used only for Halo 2 assest extraction. Now, What I want to do is take some parts from one of the 2 unused computer and put them in the other with the objective of turning this computer into a dedicated server for Halo CE. Now while I would simply have to let the comp run, I have only 1 screen and therefore, updating server config and updating maps would be much easier if done through some kind of FTP acces. How would this be done considering I have only 4 ports on my router.

If you are running an actual server OS then you can use terminal services to login and obtain desktop access to the server. The other option is to purchase a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse Switcher).

Hmm.. I'll have to look. The computer I don't use( got it today, since my grandfather retired and closed his office a couple years ago and just sold the building) Was the office server for over 20 computers.

Yeah I forgot, the server computer is actually passworded and my grand-pa has no idea how to even open it up... I know there are ways to bypass this with Linux but have never used it. Any help?

There are windows password crackers available. They require a separate boot disk then plenty of time but they will crack most average passwords. It has been so long since used one I am not sure which to recommend. The last time I needed one was on an NT server about 8 years ago.

Not sure if I should be telling you this, but you can use a Linux boot CD to run a program that can get passwords out of the registry and the files that store the passwords. I'm not sure if I can tell you anything else (I think it's aganst forum rules to talk about that stuff), but just Google around.

What OS does the computer have? I've never tried running a dedicated server, but you might consider using Windows Server 2000/2003 for it, this is the only way you can log on to the computer via Terminal Services while the game is running.

It's runs XP Pro and seeing Dennis' answer, I think it's safe to assume we can discuss this especially considering I'm setting myself a Halo dedi and not hacking someone else' computer
