Just because you see your work as being great and you think you're an awesome modeler does not give you ANY right to to be cocky and give others that are less skilled a hard time. I totally agree there. alot of you need to get your heads out of your asses and reliase that you started just like they did. Quote: Even then, what can you possibly be proud of? Is your skill in modeling for Halo going to make you successful in life? You can stick your cockiness in an empty wallet, because that's all that modeling for Halo is ever going to give you. and then you screwed up your argument. where does any videogame company get thier models? enough said. Quote: I'm not talking to any one person, because there are many that are like this. They know who they are. again, true

Actually, I specifically said modeling for Halo, not modeling in general. Of course that'll get you money, but you can't get paid for modeling for a free, unsupported game with user editing tools. In addition, to be a truly good modeler, it's more than the modeling styles for Halo. You have to be able to creatively think of new concepts entirely, as well as adapt to a certain video game's needs, and be able to use 3DS Max skillfully enough to apply your thoughts on to a true model. I'm no modeler, but to get paid for modeling requires more than any knowledge acquired here. Edited by Me KS on Mar 21, 2008 at 10:19 AM

Anon is busy with the "Church" of Scientology so cyber-terrorism isn't a problem that much.

Quote: --- Original message by: Massacre I sound like an elitist not because I feel I am particularly superior to you but rather because in my experience it is one of the easiest ways to grab ones attention and to inspire improvement.
Because I have been prompted I'll attempt to show you through a few examples where and why you haven't succeeded in your replica.
First of all it's innacurate, and though I understand due to gameplay impossiblities in the BLAM engine there are things you must change you seem to have missed the objective.
You are focusing on creating a similar visual feeling, and you have not echoed the geometry in anywhere near correct proportion. The wall for instance is completely different geometrically from the halo 3 wall, and you have instead created a vague visual parody which strays from the aforementioned proportions which tend to make or break the forerunner style.
As far as the terrain goes, you seem to have a grasp of the modeling process and your main problem is face and vertex distribution, you don't seem to understand how polygons are placed when creating a cliff or hill. My only suggestion is you study a similar mesh as a wireframe. You would really need to study it like it seems you have not for the original valhalla.
Well I see I know about my problem with my terrain and, I will continue asking people about how to do a proper mesh and I will do my best to perfect it. Now that you have pointed that out I see that there are several innacuracys becuase, I only modeled the level with very few referances(acctualy only one referance) and now that I have halo 3 I will redo (again) all of the level.
