I've asked on Yahoo! answers, no answers. And the only other people that might now about this are the people who play Halo a lot... so my computer pretty much died and when I did a system recovery it wouldn't let me play Halo. So I go to reinstall it and it stops at like 62% and says that So I delete everything, and I mean everything Halo related, uninstalled and everything, then retry it, and I get the exact same response. What the heck is going on?I definitely have enough memory, there's barely a thing on this computer now. I still have like 110000 mbs or something. Give or take a zero. anyway please help me. And if you remember me. WASSUP?

The proper removal procedure is to run the uninstall then Reboot the machine then re-install.

I would:

1) re-boot (shut down/power off then power up)
2) See if there is a folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo if so delete it. Verify that it did delete. If the directory structure is gone go to step 4. If not then:
3) Re-start the Windows in safe mode and delete the directory.
4) Re-boot
5) Clean your CD and run the install again.

It is not illegal to make a backup copy for yourself, it is illegal to hand the original CD to someone else and keep the backup.

I had the same problem almost 2 years ago. My disk was scratched up and it would only load to 64% and no more further then that. I had that same error popping up all the time too. I had to get a new disk.

Your best bet when you first get the CD is to rip the .iso/.img or whatever to your computer, and save that... That way if your CD ever does get scratched, just use DaemonTools and you can still run it.

It worked perfectly for me because, in the midst of my jungle of a room (No, I never clean my room), I lost my Halo CD. Thankfully I already had it saved and mounted with DaemonTools before, so I can still play while I attempt to find my Halo CD... And no, I'm not cleaning my room to find it, I'm just moving stuff around trying to find it. XD

You do realize that "illegal copies" doesn't mean you can't back up the CD for yourself or others who own the disk. Most companies actually recommend that so you don't lose it. To copy a CD and redistribute it for profit, or even for free, is illegal. But for programs like this that require a valid activation code, to copy the CD for someone else who has it damaged, isn't illegal if they use their own activation code. Now if you give them your activation code, yeah, you're giving the program away for free, that's illegal.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this, Dennis.
