I don't think it's about melee - there's another animation for that. This animation is what makes the needles disappear when fired - here's a quote:
Quote: Name: First-Person Ammunition
Animation Type: JMO (Overlay)
Frame Count: Magazine Capacity +1
Specific Frame Info: Frame 0 – Default
Frame 1 – Empty
Frame 2 – One Round Left
Frame 3 – Two Rounds Left
Frame 4 – Three Rounds Left
…
Last Frame - Full
Description: Defines what the weapon will look like depending on how much ammunition is remaining in the weapon.

I checked out the fp anims on a scenery arms with needler, and it works (to fast though), but when I put it in the needler's fp anim field, the map exceptions. I take it out, and it loads.
So what would make the anims crash Halo? Node sequence? Is node linkage not enough?
the gbxmodel is just arm bones and mesh (linked to bip24). I see the nodes are listed randomly...
Anim's keys applied only to bip24 (root node), upper and lower arms, rotation only
Any suggestions?
