How do i (if there is a way) change a .MAX into a 3ds or a gmax? because almost all the bases and buildings on here are .max and i need one for my map! And don't say that can just get a scenory one because i cant put weapons in that!

What the hell does that have anything to do with this?!

use HEK to rip the BSP from a MAP with the model you want
use the BSP Tag Converter v2.5 to rip an OBJ from the BSP
use importobj.ms to import the OBJ into max

use HaloMap's Search feature to find and download these. Search the forums and the "HALO CE MAPS" section

or

Google search for "convert max 3ds gmax obj" or somthing like that

thanks and o its not a bsp its a base model that wont effect anything will it?
and.. is there an exporter that will export somthing that is a .gmax to a 3ds or is there a way to get a .gmax base model to come into my map so i can attach it? because anytime i try to load it, it just loads it indevidualy... so what im asking is is there a way to get a .gmax to come in WITH my map? and if not is there an exporter that will exprt it as a 3ds?

3ds scrips? whats that? i dont have 3ds i just have gmax

maxscripts are files with lists of instructions for gmax or 3ds. I misunderstood you. I don't know if you can convert 3ds->gmax, but I got both 3ds and gmax, I could try the md5 method on it. Is it something you downloaded? You could post or pm the link

zsi want to change a gmax to a 3ds i know how to change a 3ds file into a gmax though

selentic i realy do h8 you and that is true that you never have realy helped me with my question! saying that it has errors has nothing to do with my question you just stating the obvious! If you can name up to 5 times i have thanked you for anything i will delete all my halo maps (including my modeld and made maps) and will tape it all happening and put it on youtube!

selentic did help you there. a lot. he saved you the trouble of spending hours trying to get that base model you downloaded on your map without errors and getting headaches from tool. it may not be the exact answer you were looking for but it was related and he was trying to help you. but some people are just stubborn aren't they?

First you should learn what your talking about before you tell people they are wrong and say you hate them eventhough you have absolutely no reason to.

first of all i call help when you answer my question! I don't give a **** about the errors! For example: Say i asked someone how do i plane model? then someone comes in and i wont mention any names but a serton someone that i want to kill comes in and says: Just stick to modeling the way you know how!

Thats stupid! If you dont have anything that answers the actual question then don't post at all!!

First I think that all the models should be in a 3DS format on Halomaps. Errors can be fixed that is not the issue. The issue is that many of the models have been done in later versions of 3DS Max. I have purchased 7 and many are done in 8 and 9. In GMAX you can import a 3DS. What you will do is create the map and then import the 3DS file to use as your base. If you know of someone who can convert the file to a 3DS for you then your set. If not, well there is little that can be done. I hope that helps.

You need to go to the docter, say you have anger isues, and ask for the biggest bottle of pills he has.. then chug em all down to superize the effect so much your have a heartattack. tada, all your problems will be solved.

thats not stupid at all. they have a valid point. plane modeling is hard and u need to have a good grasp of the tools to do it.
that is different than what selentic said. what he did was anticipate an error that you would have encountered if you had just used scenery .gbxmodels, and saved you the trouble of dealing with them. heres another piece of advice: .gbxmodels do not have to be sealed. they can be as messed up as you want. the collision geometry DOES need to be sealed as do bsps. what you want to do, if i have correctly understood your question, is import the model of a piece of scenery. the model will not work for the bsp becuase bsps need to be sealed, but they do work as scenery becuase for scenery the model is compiled as a .gbxmodel.
NOW you want to change a .max to .gmax? find someone with 3ds max who will export it to a .3ds file for you, then import that. otherwise, your outta luck.

A person could also convert a .max to a .gbxmodel, for import with the oh so handy gbxmodel importer

its no differnt to me weather you think im god, or a hobo. Leave selentic alone; his responces may be easly able to be taken as a insalt, but depending on how you look at them, they are alos advice. If your sending him hate mail because you can only interprit them in one way, thats not his falt; its the same as insalting british people for their accents, its just the way they talk.

well honestly, u dont need to hate him. u can dislike him well enough, but you have never met selentic, you have never talked personally face to face, and u just dont know his real personality. u have no right to hate him.
