This is a map I am working on, Facing Towers (all done by me, so far):  (its based on 'facing worlds', the UT map) As you can see, it needs some improvements. 1. Firstly, I used the tutorial textures for the bases...and while i think they look ok, some opinion/better textures would be nice:  Here is a view from one base to another.  2. The cliffs in the middle need work. How can I (easily) UVW these so they match up with the others and dont stretch like that? 3.Also, I need a sky that shows ground underneath it (like immure's)...How can i find\make one?  Comments would be nice, but answers to the questions would be even better!

Bases look kind of neat. Ground needs a better texture, maybe find someone to make a good ground bitmap for you. Would be nice to see a MC in one of the pics for size reference as right now i can't tell of its scale as i never seen the game UT or played it.
maybe for a more unique look make the towers sort of red and blueish.
a sky that shows ground (a huge forest) is the sky from red feather ranch. and the sky from mystic shows mountains and a large ocean. and these still look fine on about any map.

Yeah...Im workin on that...I can make ground bitmaps, just dont know how to make the detail maps different for different parts... Yeah...Im workin on that...I can make ground bitmaps, just dont know how to make the detail maps different for different parts... u need to select all the ground in 3ds and unwrap uvw (hit edit, select planer z, render template, save template), edit template with photoshop make the 1st detailmap for white in alpha chanel and 2nd detail map for black in alpha. yep you got to rip the maps or at least the skys from the map.
with size i suggest making it bigger and add in for some light vehicle combat. maybe make it so a ghost and warthog per side would be able to move around decently and still offer plently of normal combat. The size just should be larger as with the large bases that size just does not seem good. but ill make my final judgement after i see a reference pic.
and hexus was right, make the cliffs higher a little and alot wider so there looks to be more land mass. then add player cliping so people cant go out of the battle area.
I would expect in this map some covie weapons too. Maybe a few PPs and maybe a plasma rifle or brute plasma rifle. Maybe limit placement of sniper rifles or take them totally out. also a health pack or rocket launcher on the brige might make things interesting.

There will be: -h2 pistol and PP -carbine and battle rifle -sniper and beam rifle -2 custom weapons (similar to the UT weapons shock rifle and plasma gun) -perhaps plasma rifle and assault rifle on the bridge: rocket launcher or overshield I MIGHT put in a vehicle or two, but it wont be set to default. There is only 1 sniper/beam rifle a side. possibly a turret.
And remember, this map IS based on facing worlds, from UT, and it IS an all-out killfest.
Team slayer spawnpoints will be the same as the CTF ones, so in any team gametype, the teams will spawn opposite to each other.
The shock rifle (which I am currently working on) will provide a whole new crazyness to gameplay: It will deal little damage, but knock a player back around metres, so it will be fun knocking people of edges!
The bridge in the centre contains; in CTF, an overshield, and in slayer, a rocket launcher.
btw, im using the sky from IMMURE. The one from mystic screws up on me (flashes white and such), i think its my graphics card. Edited by Hickle Stine on Nov 23, 2007 at 05:44 PM

and you will in the halo version, too  Here is the level, skinned, sky'd, and scaled (with MC's)  and here is the red base...i set the shaders on it to reflect red light...but its pink...lol  and here is the weapon that will push someone back when you hit em with it (I know it needs work):  NEED HELP SKINNING. The ground should match the skybox better. do this by making the ground texture alot more brown, should be almost all brown.
and i cant remember with that sky. but is it a full 360% view or is there a wierd patch of ground totally missing where there should be one. im just asking cause im not sure if its the sky im thinking of or if i think its a different sky then it is.

I believe the size of the map is fairly good. shock rifle thingy is done, if you want it improved, ill give you the tags\model file and you can do that and send it back :)   heres the FP:  I moved to the side so you could see the contrail I'm sorry an update took so long, it took me a while to do the friggin pickup icons! This map will be released in the next week or so (unless anyone wants any major modifications). I have still yet to place netgame flags and darken the ground, fix some UVs etc. Otherwise, this will be my first released map! Then I will be working on boomerang, a gulch/sidewinder style map. ohk fine. I'll release it. lawl. I'm just doin a final test... Everything seems to be in working order. The MK4 Link Gun (my weird version...)'s beam is quite strong, so its range is only 10 metres (approx) The bridge in the centre holds an overshield in CTF and a rocket launcher in all else.
wait a sec...adding stuff... There is plenty of grenades to go around, starting weapon is link gun (I'm forcing you to use it!) Shock rifle and link gun located behind base. There arent any pistols. None. not even the plasma, or the h2 pistols. i think this map doesnt need em. Any objections? post NOW. I'm releasing in...oh, say, 3 hours. :)
