WARP ONE......ENGAGE!

Posted: Oct 22, 2007 12:26 AM    Msg. 1 of 7
Hello - I hope someone can help me out. About a week ago I noticed that I started to warp all over the place when I play halo CE. I do not warp when I start up my own server on my computer but when I play on my dedicated server from gameservers.com or anyone else's dedicated server I warp badly. I have tried reinstalling halo ce but that doesn't help. Does anyone know of any file that may have been modified to where I now warp? Just so you know my ping is always well below 100 when I play on my dedi or someone else's and my video card has 256 megs of ram on it. This is the first I have ever dealt with this problem and am really perplexed. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS?

Thanks,

Picard

256 MB of RAM? Upgrade to 1 GB, or at least 512 MB. 512 MB is the absolute minimum you need to play this game. Your computer is lagging because it can't handle it (it can handle you by yourself, but when you're playing with other players, that's more textures it has to render, and that uses up resources).

He means his graphics card is a 256Mb graphics card he doesn't mean that's the amount of ram he has so that's not the problem as halo needs like a 32mb

Thats correct Guru, my video card has the 256mb of ram. My system has 1 GB of DDR Ram. I have been playing halo with these specs for years now. This problem has just surfaced. I hope someone can help me out here.

Thanks.

Try doing a virus scan, or run a de fragment or run disk clean up.

This may be of some assistance:

Be sure you are not running any other programs that are communicating with the Internet like a P2P file share or internet radio or something like that.

Thanks to all who responded. I hope everyone takes note as I have FIXED THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!! What I ended up doing is deleting the last program I added to my computer which was a JAVA update. I checked the list of programs on my computer and saw that I had three Java updates installed. I uninstalled the 3rd update and my Halo started working right. It had gotten so bad I couldn't even play Halo at all.

After I uninstalled the the 3rd update, I uninstalled the 1st and 2nd updates and now my computer runs A LOT faster. Just so you know, each update was 100 MB each!!! By deleting those three programs I freed up 300 MB on my hard drive!!!! Anyway......I hope as many people see this as possible. Maybe someone out there is having the same problem.

Thanks again!
