Ok, when I exported my map, it took a little over an hour for it to export, and it is getting really frustrating. I am using gmax, and chimp to export it. (when I saw the guy do it on the tutorial, it tool only about 15 seconds. Any help would be great.

he probably skipped that part of the video up so you dont watch 1 hour of exporting.

Doubt that. I've exported a map that was over 90 mb when compiled, but it only took me two minutes to export. It depends on your amount of RAM, and processor speed as well.

Is one gigabyte of ram enough? And is 1.91 gigaherds enough? Also, my map is 20000 units long, 20000 units wide, and 5000 units high, is that too big?

Well, your RAM is the same as mine, but my processor is 2.88 GHz. And, that units, there's no way that's half the size of Blood Gulch considering how my brother made a map that big (beta name is PT.1), and it's rather huge. That's about the size of Danger Canyon. It's not the whole size of BG, but it's maybe 90% of it... At least, in my size comparisons. xD;

But no, that's not too big, that's a decent amount of RAM and Processor speed... I don't know why it takes that long to compile honestly. Try running just Tool, and no other programs at the same time, in the background (except of course Windows Explorer, being that's where you opened CMD.exe from. xD;)

Well, that's good to know, but what you're saying is that bluestreak would be faster than chimp?

20,000x20,000x 5000 is larger than BG i believe.... Or around the same size... But the units are relative to how each individuals 3ds Max is set up, because that size is most likely generic 3ds Max units(the topic creators measurements) and someone elses could be that one generic unit=1 foot... which is 10 times larger... (1 Generic unit=1.2 inches in Halo)...

Ahh, that could be what it was. I don't use GMax or Chimp. xD; I use 3DS Max 9 and Bluestreak, and it exports really fast. And the compilation of the map itself, like, from the tags into a .map, only takes me a minute, no matter how large. >_>; But, it could be GMax and Chimp that are slower. I dunno really, I don't use it... I rarely use 3DS Max much anymore. xD;

I actually figured out if I have bitmaps on my map, then I export it, it slows down sooo much, how do I fix it, because, if I dont put in like dangercanyon_ground, or dangercanyon_cliff_walls, it takes alot shorter to export then when I do put bitmaps in. And, what is a heightmap?
