Has anyone noticed that the "Before you ask how to edit/make maps - Read This" post actually seems to be working? we have been getting a little less noob posts lately.

Well one thing that is good is that we read lesser threads about how to make maps:DI think we have reached the lvl when you ignore them..

How about we, meaning you, help them instead. All it takes is to point out the links to the help files without insulting them in the proces: Like so:

Dennis, is it possible to increase the font sze or boldness of the "Before you ask how to edit/make maps - Read This " header in the forum? might help with new mappers trying to get started.

it's as bad as it has ever been, i don't think it's worse or better. People will always not read stickies, it's just how things are. some People just don't understand the concept of stickies.

as long as the hek says "Play" we will continue to get these questions.

Someone needs to mod the HEK thing to where it says "tutorial" instead of "play" if someone did that now then it would really lower the number of people saying "how do i play my hek"

if someone did that and Dennis replaced the HEK on this site with it then, now we are talking progress. If someone did that i am sure dennis would replace it as it would help out this entire community.

That was a great spam topic, i am glad you remember that.

but that was not really someone honestly asking for help, that was for kicks.

the pm idea would never work Dennis does not have the time to PM every new member. all we got to do is hope people learn to get it

We could just slap people and demand that they read the stickies but some still won't get it.

Even better yet the members of the forum act more mature and assist those who ask the basic questions all of you asked at one time.

Although to some of you guys credit the help supplied to people in the technical forum is with only few exceptions very good and exactly what this forum was here for. To those people I thank you.

im serious someone needs to edit the HEK menu to say "tutorial" instead of play. I hope it could be done anyhow.

i doubt it would be a vioalation cause you are just changing a buttons text or whatever. Plus Halo CE is a unsupported upgrade. If Dennis hosts the kornman hek i don't see how it could be a violation.

try to PM Dennis , he would know for sure.

That is just it, you don't refuse to answer their questions you berate them and make fun of them for asking. Refusing to answer their questions is fine but making fun of them for asking is patently immature. It you don’t want to answer their questions then remain silent.

I wish I knew something about mapmakeing then I would be able to help. Ah well night folks.

Oh please.... Grow up. What I want is for people to act correctly and not to be internet bullies. If that concept escapes you then just don't post. Remember, someone being a "noob" is matter of time and perspective and from my point of view you are just out of diapers and yet the only time I berate people is when they act harshly to others and not for being ignorant of things I learned long ago and take for granted.

This forum is for everyone and anyone who wants to learn about Halo CE and making maps for it, not just for a few people who already know how and want to make fun of others because they don't.

So did I and you discounted it. What you want is for some one else to educate the new guys so they don’t anoy you and I say it is your (the forum members) responsibility. There are technical limitations to the sending of automatic emails and besides the forum is also about machinima and Halo 2 Vista and neither of those people want spam about making Halo CE maps. You are also forgetting the obvious which is if they had read the HEK tutorial in the first place they wouldn’t be asking the questions and since they didn’t read the tutorial why would they read the email telling them to read the tutorial they didn’t read to begin with? The plain fact is that no matter what, new people will always join and ask the basic questions they should have learned from the tutorial or the articles on the website: Especially younger new people. Of course if you had been doing this kind of thing (moderating discussion groups) for the past 28 years you would know that.

As I have said and continue to say: it is not proper to make fun of or be nasty or mean to people in this forum for not knowing what you might know. You are free to not answer their questions or ignore them if you want but I will not tolerate people trying to bully them into silence.

Why even argue? When you came to this forum you ask the same question and someone thoughtfully gave you a answer.I know I did, and I thanked them for it. Now I do the same thing. Its not difficult, just give them the link. Anyways why argue with the person that is paying for this website that can close it down anytime he wanted to? Whats the point? He is the principal you are the student. You dont listen to him you suffer the punishment. That simple.

Not hardly. not anywhere near to even being considered as being close. I have just been alive longer than you guys and picked up a few things you haven't yet experienced. I also do not engage in discussions unless I am sure of what I am talking about through experience and pratice.

Dennis is pretty much older then most of us here. It's obvious that he would know more as he is more experienced at life. Dennis usually wins arguments because he knows what he is talking about.

And the fact that Dennis is the site's administrator.

And Dennis, how come you (rarely or never?) give us ideas for maps. Imagine if someone made a
Map were the Biped was modeled after Dennis. Idk if it would work but might be interesting for Halomap Patriotes.

Kiwi didn't post more then 10 post for almost a year, but that's because Kiwi forgot about here for awhile.

iv been here for like.... i dont know almost a year. i joined a total noob and now im like..... well not a noob anymore

Interesting.

Icame to the forums when I saw the User Forum button 4 mnoths from when I found this site. That's sad.

We owe a lot to Dennis for keeping the site up, no matter how many times we have pissed him off, I think we all should model a map in Honor of Halomaps and keeping it going. HCE (and H2CE once the HEK gets unlocked [if it gets unlocked], and a Halo 3 CE once that comes out too [ if it comes out]) is the best first person shooter i have ever modded/mapped.

Kudos to Dennis for the site & Community.
