jsut a few tests i was making before i'm going to attempt to make an h3 mc

I made the bitmaps from hte ground up and they where jsut meant as tests but i still like to show them XD

at the moment i'm tryng to combine number 1 and 2 together




this 3rd one is quite special
It can only been seen if your looking at it with the sky behind it meaning that if you look at
the mc in an tunnel you cant see the armor and if you look at it half at the sky half to a cliff or someting you will only see the part that has sky behind it XD

well this is how far i'v come at the moment XD
i have 2 versions an little bit shiny version and an very shiny version
XD tell me wich 1 is te best becuase idk but the very shiny looks a bit to shiny XD



Well i made it look a bit lessdark i hope you like it XD


with this 1 i make the visor more shiny


oke i have remoced the famage tothe suit and removed the grene hands ect

no it reflects light in such a wat it doesnt show the bit maps meaning you can see the back of the visor from the back but sidns there sitn an back of that you dont see anything

yeah the first ones look almost... err fakeish... i dont know how to say it... they look a tad 2dish. and is it me or is the hand that holds the sword on that spartan terribly twisted up?

yeah thats because of the energysword XD any other weapon works jsut fine and it doesnt have an twisted wrist

open photoshop (or your photo editing program.. needs channels)
go into the channels tab when you have your objects bitmap open.. lets first go to green.. what all glows, what doesnt? use a black brush, remove anything that doesnt glow and make it black.. now in the RGB view, you'll see it looks purple, and as the glowing things normal color.. go to red and blue, and paint black over the parts that you had preserved in your green channel.. that is a basic multiperpose map.. now.. there are details you can do.. if you dont know already, green=glow, blue=colorchange, red=shiney.. just preaty much treat red and blue as one. now, use brite contrast tool on blue and red individualy, get differnt details standing out, now you'll see the RGB is ranging from blue to red with purple, and the few green places.. tada.. and if you mess with it enough, you can create fake bumps.. ill see if I have the AR photo on my photobucket account, if not, ill post it later (Ill edit this post to add it unless I wait till I get home and there are more posts)

k, got my example.. I am pointing my AR at the sun, the side is shining uniquly, it makes the illution of a bumpmap

the bump on the side is one of the big goals of a multiperpose map (I realy should tone that top part down.. lol, or make the side part so it doenst have to be right in the sun to act like that loL)

its kinda sad when a H1 MC is looking almost as nice as H3... lol.. gotta love fake bumps :P

and e3po.. fix those hands.. your hands look discusting.. are they 32x32?.. (also.. stop threadjacking.. if your gonna use a pic that is used in a sugestion or something, just use it as a link like I am.. then you dont take away from the topic)

does your H2 MC use the skin from jahrains H2 MC on this site? if so, ill wip up some skin while im at home or something, make it look fancy like my H1 MC, and my H1 MC is alot like the H3 one.. its got fake bumps and looks realy roughed up.. lol, only differance is the model is the H1 one lol

I did my MC at 2048x2048 lol, oddly, tool doesnt accept bitmaps of 4096x4096 with 32bit color.. wonder why?.. well.. it doesnt accept 2048x2048 at 32 bit either lol

i like this armor... cept i think the reflections are all wrong.

in h2 and h3, the armor doesn't look high-gloss. its shiny but not glossy. know what i mean? and there should be NO gloss on the rubber parts. if you have seen jahrain's "jenna", thats what i think looks good on armor, at least for the rubber parts. thats just my opinion.

other than that, this armor looks great and i would love to put it in a level by the time it comes out :P.

hmm... one more issue... i dont like how the stomach bends so abruptly, but i suppose thats just the model and the rigging.

like i made my own multibitmap and it looks awsoem the only thing i need to fix is the regular bitmap because i dont like the damaged parts on the h2 bitmap he made so if i could have an clean version i could make it as good as the lost spartan when ti comes to the detail of the armor XD

also about the neck the neck is the about the same as teh halo 1 mc and the lost spartan sdo i dont see why i should make it have an longer neck XD

so it is the default H2 texture?.. ill mess around with it, ill see if I can make it look dented, beaten up, shiney, blah blah blah

liek the newer pcis are with the standard h2 bitmaps the first ones arent XD

so where did I take credit? I simply said that this is the bitmap that isnt based off the alpha, its the basemap used in H2.

i made my own but i somehow lsot htat 1 XD look at hte second pic XD
maybe i'll rip the h2 mc bitmaps from h2 vista and incorparate that 1 into the 1 that jahrain made
