Hi, its me again, now that my Sapien is fixed, im gonna go at the map making part. Before i start, when im making the Heightmap in paint, should i just make the whole thing black, and add in the cliffs while im making the hills? or should i make the cliffs when im drawing the Heightmap in paint? Cause i want cliffs like hugeass's, not a map where when u zoom out, the whole thing is flat on top. Hugeass has none of that.. Any help asap is apreciated. ~I love Grunts

*clears throaght* ummm... srry pplz.. you need to make the shape of your map in paint (black= ground; white= cliff) and save as a (some 1 correct me with file types) _______ now go into (what program u have) and make a box. flip it and hide the faces above (map boundry wall) select editable mesh and go up to the drop box above the right toolbar. select (AGH I 4GOT!!!!) umm... select... well it starts with a "D" <--- i guess. apply the file and change the setting down there to ure likings.

Maps always look better to me if someone does not use a heightmap.
I believe h-guru's map making tutorial shows how to make a bsp not using a heightmap.

Thread titles with impatient words like ASAP, PLZ HELP!!!!!, etc, only serve to annoy others. You honestly believe that a thread titled like that gets you help faster then a title that accuratly describes your question/problem? Something to think about...
As for height-mapping, its the cheap way to do it. Can people tell you did it that way? Yup. If you want quality, its still going to take work

You may want to outline how high(white), pretty high(light gray), and the almost kinda slightly high(gray) parts of the map. Then make the numerous high-detailed... details to the mountains/hillz. OOOOOOOOOOH! i never knew u could use other colors, thnx

Think of it as a kind of greyscale. When you use a heightmap, you can also adjust its "Strength" to see a stronger or weaker difference in the overall height between colors.
