why am i the only person to ask this. i was always under the impression ( coz every1 knows this is like the 1st rule of CE ) that every modd of a map MUST have a new name. So why or how do KOV make a modded server for BG and DC ( the modd is just infinite ammo i believe) but how the hell is this done without making a "new" map. I must be missing something i guess.

The reason Halo Maps insists that each modification, version or new map have a unique name is exactly because of what I think you are experiencing. If someone modifies an existing map or makes two different maps or versions of them that are the same name then when you try to join a server running a different version than you have you can't. With only some rare exceptions, we will not host maps that have the same name as an existing one. For the most part we inist that every map have a unique name.

Technically there is nothing keeping people from creating multiple versions of the same level and retaining the same map name. There are plenty of Halo CE maps like that. We will just not host them for download. Every week I delete yet another "bloodgulch.map" file from the inbound area. If I hosted them then how would you know which bloodgulch.map was which?

As for running a server with inifinte amo or deathless player or super jump those are developer mode commands that can be enabled on the server using a dev trainer or dev mode utility. Because they are server commands they allow everyone connected to the server access to those functions.

But what's in that map (at least that Kiwi remembers) is that the weapons actually had more ammo then normal (assault rifle with 999 bullets for example) and modified weapons damage and such. How can they do that?

yea its must be done with Dev like Dennis said coz they CANT have altered the actual mapfile or no1 could join. Now this is very interesting to me , i am wondering what else u could "modd" using only Dev. I have never used it so i wouldnt know but maybe there is a way of making Dev more powerfull and able to modd maps in a more interesting way. like i said i never used it and am just throwing an idea out.

Infinite ammo and such is part of dev mode, but Kiwi isn't aware of any commands that modify weapons damage or ammo capacity.
