Can anyone explain, in very simple directions, how to get sound such as wind and bird chirps in your map?

Just to add to that, your map DOES NOT have to be portalled in order to apply background sounds/weather. However, if your map has both interior AND exterior parts, it'd be recommended that you portal the map to make the map look and sound better.

that means it has to be portalled. Portals define interior and exterior, and divide the map into clusters. I have never gotten background sounds to work on an unportalled map.

kenney, there is always one cluster. portals just split the cluster up into small clusters so that you can have different things in different areas for individualisim

And also so that unseen parts of the maps are not rendered.... Lol, always one cluster unless its portaled, not many people portal them though... I did once, for really no reason, but I have like 59 clusters or something...
