As I brought up in the thread where we discussed H2, Halo 1 operates with all it's mechanics fully working on Legendary, and Dust Storm was playing on heroic as a show of him trying to understand and learn the nuances of the game while fun for him, wouldn't be the greatest display. Much like anytime you see a Demo of an official game, it's always with invincibility on or a low difficulty where it is "hey look at all these things". If he tried to play that with just the DMR on Legendary he still could, but it wouldn't be anywhere as easy as how he made it through TSC with it in the stream. Experienced halo players will always cary a headshot weapon as their primary tool and something else as their secondary, depending on the situation. At least that's the design thought for SPV3.

So we haven't really talked about how the MA5E has a scope yet. It seems to be inspired by the AR's scope in ASCM. Thoughts?

I was unaware that the AR was getting scope functionality, but I kinda like the idea. Is it smart-linked to the rifle's display?

I like the fact that the AR is getting a scope, but will it work good at mid to long range?

Since the AR comes with some nice spread control, it will definitely make the AR a better short-medium range option than before, maybe not long-range per se.

I don't know how I feel about the gungoose. Really it seems to me like an option I just won't use unless I use the tag for a racing map or something. The ghost just seems to be the better option.

I don't have much to do with TSC:E, with SPV3 I would describe it as roughly as difficult overall as the original once you learn how everything works. Then Nobel has enemies who are harder than legendary but fewer and number.

I don't know how I feel about the gungoose. Really it seems to me like an option I just won't use unless I use the tag for a racing map or something. The ghost just seems to be the better option.


I would probably use it in the event I lost everyone who could mount the gun turret on the Warthog, or had no gunner in the first place. Thats basically what I use the Ghost for.

When I say "smart-linked to the rifle's display" I mean "zoom capability without an obvious telescopic sight". And since the scope view does appear to use the same outline as the assault rifle's display, then it seems implied that the ammo indicator can also display a magnified view of wherever the rifle is pointing.

Definitely. But a lot of the sounds are still WIP, and now that he's gotten some feedback beaucephal may take some of our advice and remake it.

EDIT: I'm tired and talking crap there, I thought you were talking about the focus carbine for a sec. I'm still tweaking the particle carbine.

Couple things I identified in the stream
Seems that Grunt Ultra's use the BPR, BPP and Shredder.
Brute melees are a bit OP.
BPP fire effect is more plasma based than actual fire.
Gravity Grenade is a bit OP ( in anyone's opinion).
Focus Carbine cool down period is actually long. I'll edit when I think of more.

I'm sure whatever you finally produce will be great.

Question though. Do you draw inspiration from multiple Halo games for the sounds of weapons, or do you try and put what CMT thinks best fits the weapon?

5 minutes into that podcast and im like, wow.. barely touched textures, and why do they keep skipping johnsons part in the cutscene? then that damn beeping noise for each objective...


what is up with the pistol popping up as soon as keyes hands it to you? seems unnatural...

a few other positive notes, the needler is actually an intimidating weapon i feel like the player should actually fear a grunt with one. as for the particle carbine, i LOVEE the "pew pew" sound of it! sounds fantastic. gravity nade sounds phenomenal and i think it actually appeared well balanced. cant wait for it on the low grav POA missions.. pull a brute from halfway cross the map..

This. He hands you an unloaded weapon, which you immediately point at his head. The slide also seems to be locked back, which would happen after you fired the last round in the magazine, but you wouldn't really just carry it around like that when you can hit the slide catch and let it return to its regular position.

I'd say to just take the same approach Combat Evolved took: keep the handgun offscreen until you pick up ammo for it, because if you were to encounter anything before that, pointing an empty sidearm at them wouldn't do you a whole lotta good.

omg spv3 is almost close to done!





some things ive seen from previews I still don't like

and make tsc as dark as it was in the pb release, no point in having it bright while have visr mode, and that damn beep whenever a checkpoint occurs... X_X

sniper looks slightly nice, sound is... meh, crosshair is too big... or seems a bit brighter than usual.. or solid... idk, that zoom in crosshair feels a bit too solid
needler is ok... just ok, probably better off with other sound, looks nice though

br sounds nice silenced, hope unsilenced version isn't a ruined sound, AR needs to be sped up slightly... its a small clip with a low ROF

im not trying to start any arguments but why is everybody on this forum hating on the things i love about what they have done to the mod... ar is awesome that way, it starts slow and speeds up.. remind anyone of any other well received and beloved cmt guns... (ma5k) this brings back the fun of that gun.. EVERY version of the ar IN THE WHOLE HALO SERIES has been bland. now it actually has a custom behavior and nope nobody likes it except me..

I remember reading somewhere that SPV3 is going to be delayed and that isn't going to be released on the dates shown in the CE3 2014 trailer.

true but they should at least increase the clip size from somewhere between 35, and 45

or have the start ROF be increased by a milisecond

Increasing the fire rate by the difference of a millisecond would have no noticeable effect in-game.

chuck norris plays spv3 in noble and with plasma pistol 000%, melee and only a flashlight
