No frg so guess you will either replace it with something else because maybe you already have fuel rod based weapons. (hunter weapons)
Yay and I guess part 2 will have many new weapons maybe.

Have you checked out the covenant flame thrower in the Flood campaign?

Those Biohazard Elites would be a pretty cool addition, especially with OS.

Part of the fun of the enforcer fight was the FRG... and we actually don't have a FRG or plan to have one in SPV3... other than the hunter weapons.

Porta Turret and flamethrower are planned to return in part 2.

Then what are the heavy weapon grunts supposed to use?

No FRG? But I saw a brute cheiftain holding one at the end of the B30:E pool encounter, even though the model was unchanged. Or was that a placeholder?

I imagine TSC:E has a fuel rod, while spv3 does not. Simple as that

Then what are the heavy weapon grunts supposed to use?

They've been replaced by Grenadier Grunts, Specop Jackals and Brutes with brute shots/rockets/hunter guns depending on level, situation and rank.

The FRG even in it's best incarnations just overshadows the Brute Shot or Concussion Rifle, and was only seen briefly in 3 missions.

C40: AA sections where Brutes with heavy weapons are more varied substitutes
D20: Specops teams at very end, Specop Jackals who whore the overcharge on the Brute PP are more effective VS flood and provide a more interesting challenge in CQB. Grenadier grunts also can be put into the specop squads with various ranks carrying various grenade types.
D40: All grunts used to replace jackals, as a10 never used jackals and the shields + tight corridors make for a more interesting experience.

The tentative "D25" which is looking more and more to be a thing we want to do, and D30 won't feature air combat, so the AA FRG Grunts won't be necessary and both will include our "savage" covenant who will be making use of human heavy weapons, mainly the Brutes.

We don't have them wielding any sentinel beam based weapons because most of those are not done yet. But it's likely they will. Savage Covenant make a brief appearance in C10, but are (planned to be) encountered frequently C40, D20, D25 and D30.

So now I've got two questions.

First,
Could we see savage covenant fighting savage covenant in later missions when the leadership comes apart? It's not uncommon later in the lore for brutes to fight each other after the prophets went into hiding post halo 3. And elites did similar things too when left leaderless, considering some formed the storm and other roguelike factions while others remained allies with humanity. Jackals formed rogue pirate groups even before the covenant fell apart. Additionally, it's known that brutes and elites had an uneasy alliance as it was before the Great Schism. Also considering the covenant battlenet was "a mess", and apparently your covenant are becoming savage, wouldn't it make sense if they started turning on one another and fighting? I personally don't even give a damn about all the lore evidence I just gave, I just think it'd create some cool gameplay situations. In my opinion the more factions you can make fight each other in the late game levels, the better.

Second question,
Why not just make a better polished version of the H1 plasma cannon (the battery operated fuel rod) Where the projectiles are meant to be fired into the air like mortars, rather than shot directly at an enemy or bounced off the ground and explode like the brute shot. You could have it run on a battery like the halo 1 variant too, and maybe require a quick charge time to prevent players from spamming mortars. In addition, maybe the fuel rod detonation could cause a small cloud of plasma and/or a few additionally explosive projectiles to engulf the area-of-effect post-detonation. The initial explosion itself wouldn't do too much damage itself, but it could work like a cluster missile in titanfall, damaging and stunning whatever the shot lands on for a few seconds. This would mean you could fire a few (lets say 3 consecutive shots, before overheating?) projectiles from a safe distance, making it more of a support weapon or tactical weapon for taking out a small group of enemies or stunning and damaging a larger encounter.

1. I think you will be happy with what we have in store for part 2. The name "savage" covenant comes from the savage locusts in gears 3, who had to use alternative weapons due to the loss of their city. Our savage covenant start using human and forerunner weapons, hence the name. We still stick close to the lore in who uses what, Elites will only use other covenant weapons normally delegated to the lower ranks, while jackals with shields will take advantage of pistols and SMGs, and the unshielded jackals starting to use human rifles. As described earlier, the brutes will make use of many heavy human weapons. Grunts mainly just use SMG.

2. We experimented with several fuel rod variants and even a needle based one, all based on the H1 design of it being a battery operated mortar. In the end, it just felt like a more powerful brute shot (which has no arc in our mod). As far a a cluster based explosion, you will have your answer at CE3.

I don't think they're becoming "savage" in the feral sense, so much as they're becoming more ferocious and becoming more willing to do whatever it takes to survive as their supplies runs out and things fall apart. They probably wouldn't be fighting each other (all the examples you mentioned are valid, but all of them involve Covenant that weren't necessarily in hostile territory without a means of evacuation), at least not at a noticeable scale.

The ones that I'd figure as being the most likely to come to blows would be the Elites and the Brutes, but I'm not sure that they have the same distaste for one another in CMT's canon as they do in the actual canon, seeing as how CMT deploys both species to the same battlefields.

I figured the idea was at least somewhat inspired by Gears. I hope they actually look savage though, like with missing armor pieces and maybe human armor or pieces of armor from different covenant species tacked on (like a brute wearing a jackal shield). That would be pretty cool.

EDIT:

& @Echo,

I still feel it could be plausible. Supplies were probably running low, the covenant couldn't reach their commanders, and brutes/elites would probably start arguing with each other about decisions made on the battlefield and survival, especially when the minor prophet on Truth and Reconciliation and many of the covenant leaders were being killed. With the flood closing in, Jackals would likely try to steal dwindling/scavenged supplies and escape, friendly fire mistakes would probably be made in conflict with flood, raising tensions further, and as entire squads were infected/killed brute and elite leadership would argue with each other. It doesn't seem unlikely that eventually somebody snaps, kills someone else, and before you know it covenant are killing one another bar-brawl style. When the smoke clears small groups with bitter rivalry are left fighting over limited supplies and territory that could be safe from the flood. Or maybe they fight over limited space on dropships as they try to escape the ring and the flood. It could happen.

well the "savage" is in quotes for that reason. We just call them that in the tags, like we call power armored brutes brute "bosses" even though chieftains are the actual boss enemy.

If you remember in SPV1 we had some covenant with pretty messed up armor, the hope is to bring that back in a more optimized fashion.

Our Brute and Elite story (and this was going to tie into the SPV3 version of H2SPP) is that the Prophets began to intermingle the fleets as the Brutes rose in power, and also so that when the time came, the Brutes would be embedded in the fleet and outnumber the Elites, allowing them to take successful control. Pretty much like how in Star Wars the Jedi lead the clones who could be ordered to kill the Jedi when given the order.

Since the savage covenant will be using human weapons (forerunner weapons maybe) will they make use of frag grenades?
And I understand the reason for the savage covenant because of the flood. I'll edit later.

With the release of SPV3 we will be opening up a lot of stuff that has gone into it, including how people can start using the flashlight replacement system we use for the Armor Upgrades. We'll have tutorials on how all our scripted stuff can be implemented into your own maps. (boost, hijacking, vehicle emp, flashlight replacement and armor upgrades, weapon zoom behaviors, vehicle health systems, intergrated healthpacks for vehicles, low gravity, and all the other things I am forgetting.)

as I am not so creative, I did something similar to a HUD elite

and thinking in the HUD ODST, I thought in the old version of the HUD, but with a yellow but as in H3 ODST

Since the single ODST have stamina

But if after you exit CMT SPV3 could do a different story
