Dang, been lurking on these forums for so long I feel like I just might be a bit of an obsessive stalker/creeper. Just wanted to let you guys know that it's been 5 years (Yeah I was around for SPv1) I've followed you guys' awesome work and I'm still waiting no problems. No matter how long it takes, just take your time, make something we can all be proud ten years from now, and please do keep up the good work.

Your obsessed fan boy,
THEFEAR

Ah, the good ol' SPv1 days.

343 never made a mark IV.

That is pretty cool though. I just don't like the blatant 117 on the chest. I mean, obviously you need identification, but... on MJOLNIR?

The codpiece isn't large enough, either. We all know that the chief has power balls.

That armor makes me cringe. My favorite armor of the series is the Halo Wars armor. There's just something that looks incredibly bad ass and deadly about it. The helmet for the current biped is based off of Halo Wars.

I have to 100% agree with masters. If someone were to remake the MK4 armor, they should look at the Halowars design.

CMT's Spartan looks like Halo War's Spartan.

We have the model still. Back then the idea was to make the under suit for the crewmen, with the model add ons for the marines, then ODSTs would be our elite troops. The marines are low on our priority scale right now, for most missions, ODSTs are preferred anyway.

Edit: Vex, that is sexy.

It looked much better in SPV2. the chief will get getting an overhaul. Our method of OSing content designed for the stock graphics in H1 clearly shows it's flaws in our chief. I love the design of the armor and the model, but we all agree that the skin needs to go.

I am disappointed with your inability to tell the difference between "I butsecks corrigen" and "hello"

No, I am not either of them, and I find them both very annoying.

The fact remains that a good mix of ODSTs and marines in the map will help break up monotony, and personally, I am interested in seeing how CMT handles skin.

I was trying to be humorous about the fact that the spartans upper arms look like they are about three times as large as the need to be, but apparently, mild humor translates to trolling.

THAT armor makes you cringe? What about this!

That is the ugliest armor ever. Of all time. I would not want to be protected by plastic

Apart from obvious fails, if you do do a Marine makeover, I have a few requests.

- More futuristic. Please. The year 2552 and what? Steel plates? Hah. Things like a gauntlet that would (theoretically) allow them to access satellite imaging, objectives, stuff like that. Take some hints from the reach one.
-Make the armor more sensible. In real life, soldiers only have their chest and abdomen protected by body armor. Since this is in the future, some armor plates on the arms may be good, but they look too tank now.
-Obviously, better skin. You'll get around to this though.
-For the green eyepiece, maybe replace that with glasses that are blue/green, and would serve the same purpose.

This would serve to make it more realistic and futuristic.

(Hint: Look at Ghost Recon Future Soldier.)

Some things, while they may not be the most realistic given the time frame, are simply defining features of Halo. The Marines are one of these things, and while it would be nice to see them updated, I don't think they should be drastically different from the examples seen in Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, etc.

Well, it has been a while since anyone has updated this thread. Some of you may have seen some of this stuff already! But, for those who have not...

Last time this thread was updated, BobtheGreatII showed off his Rocket Launcher, along with a peek at some TSC:E gameplay. That's buried a few pages back, so if you missed it here it is again.

Then, there is the RL's FP animation set, comprised of work done by both ODX and myself. ODX is not too happy with the one melee he made, so don't worry about it! This never got posted here (though it was up on Halomods).

I think I forgot to post the Pistol's animation set here as well, so here that is.

Then, there is the new Ghost boosting demo, which is showing off some new scripting functions in OS 3.1. Check out Km00's 3.1 announcement post, a lot of good things are coming.

And just now, Ifafudafi revealed our new third grenade type, the EMP Grenade (new grenades are also something that OS 3.1 is letting us do!). From his Halomods post...

Quote:
It's no longer a secret that we now have and will make use of support for more than 2 grenade types, so have a look at the third one -- the EMP Grenade.

As usual, NOTHING IS NECESSARILY REPRESENTATIVE OF CONTENT INCLUDED IN THE FINAL PRODUCT. Up until release, anything and everything -- especially visuals and low-level balancing-work like precise damage values -- is subject to all kinds of change.

The EMP Grenade is a Brute design, and is used exclusively by them in lieu of Plasma Grenades. The grenade comes to rest as soon as it lands on the ground, and immediately projects an EMP field which burns for 3 seconds, doing massive damage to any kind of shields and moderate damage to armored Brutes, but no damage to unshielded targets. After expiring, the grenade detonates into a small explosion which can finish off weak or heavily injured units.

The key factor differentiating the EMP Grenade is that the 3-second damage-over-time feature opens up a wide range of area-denial tactics, allowing the user to block off chokepoints, cover their retreat, and so on. Having the damage be only to shields counterbalances the instantaneous arming time; no "permanent" damage can be done to a completely unaware unit by the grenade alone, minimizing frustration and emphasizing the intended role of area-denial -- but still allowing for potentially devastating followups with headshot weapons or other explosives.

That's all we've got for now. More coming eventually.

Definitely resembles the h4 pulse grenade

Doesn't really remind me of a brute design though, not very industrial and savage like you'd expect

just my initial thoughts

maybe if it had an initial detonation that tossed some spikes into the environment (like an explosion that released the power drainer), sort of like a initial flash bang/stun effect, it would seem more brutish? plus with a flashy stun grenade like this, an initial detonation just sort of makes sense.

just a suggestion, not trying to force you to change anything, though I've heard apparently I give off that vibe to people when critiquing

My thoughts and recommendations:

1. Awesome idea

2. Make the main pulsing orb not pulse so fast and instead, slowly expand.

3. Make the lightning pulse once per second.

^Try it with those ideas, might look better, though you aren't obligated to since it's your creation and preference.

make the pulse red, orange, or yellow; the brutes are aggressive and more suited to using crude fire and aggressive tactics, such as the brute spiker (launching spikes into foes because plasma bolts are "elegant"). you should also make it a tad noisier and less opaque, since the field stays up longer than an explosion and would hinder vision incredibly since it is nearly solid. also, instead of pulsing so severely like that, it would be better to start off like the sound effect; low and compressed, then noisy and explosive near the end.
