way too smooth; the floor tiles are supposed to be angular since they are forerunner tech.
and they are incredibly dark.

Also, if you're using OS anyways, there is going to be a flag in OS 3.1.0 to enable em as well.

i would like to know how to remove that requirement.. :o

also.. i dont want to use OS.. (unless you can use OS to add animations in the ui and then compile to be compatible with default Halo, i mean.. with no OS installed..)

The requirement for animations is having a player. If you've used flycam in a multi-clustered map, you've probably noticed some AI just frozen somewhere far off; this is because the player is not near by. For cinematics however, bungie included script commands so that the game could continue moving with the absence of the player in the immediate area. These commands are PVS commands. You can set a PVS object, or a PVS camera.

(object_pvs_set_object <object>)
sets the specified object as the special place that activates everything it sees.

(object_pvs_set_camera <cutscene_camera_point>)
sets the specified cutscene camera point as the special place that activates everything it sees.


So, as long as you have a single cluster UI map, a PVS cam should be fine. But, if you're doing a more advanced UI map like a whole SP level fly through, the OS option would be preferred.

yes, im working on it (soon i will post pics.. but i dont want to yet..)
GAIGHER helped me with sky/bsp... i need help from someone who can convert these models to tags files, so i can use it in the UI (because i dont know nothing about compiling sky/bsp, but i dont have 3ds max either, so... :/ )

Working on sort of a SP style map model. It's my first outdoor model so I have no idea how to texture it well nor how to approach it.
I'm used to only doing FP animations and I wanted to do this.

instead of having your cliff texture tile, unwrap it accordingly with the snow at the top of the cliffs. This actually makes a major difference in presentation.

Go play Firefight Portent.Isn't the playing area really similar to the BSP in the pic?

You're right. I just went back and played Firefight Portent and it does look extremely similar.

Killzone was the one who extracted textures too so there isn't much I can do now. I dont have reach maps or anything by myself right now.
